Applaud this clown..
This was something a clown on yahoo forum wrote. his name is NOJOE the clown-thought it was interesting--started quite a fury on yahoo...
I was contacted over the last weekend from a production casting co.
who was requesting my clown and show to serve as a feature and
background in a movie that is being shot. The setting is a carnival
the pay, hours, recognition, credits, addition to my resume all
sounded great. In fact it all sounded great until I asked the title
of the movie. I was told "Carn-Evil". Yes, it was infact a horror /
thriller movie. At this point of the conversation I was faced with an
ethical decision. However, I really had no decision to make as my
clown character which I have worked so hard to form told me under no
uncertain terms that this was something that NOJOE did not need to be
associated with. Yes, the money was great, really great. But, to
think of NOJOE being associated with any negativity was more than I
was willing to participate in. I polietly told the agent how much I
appreciated the call and should they ever have a more positive need
for my character then to please keep me in mind and refused the job.
She countered with more money. Once again, I politely refused. I
wanted to share this story with you all for this. We have enough to
overcome with the normal shyness and fear of clowns please don't let
your character be bought out and facilitate these types of negative
stereotypes.
Keep makin' 'em smile!
NOJOE
