It seems that most of the suggestions for comfortable clown shoes on the internet call for two pairs of shoes. A pair that fits well, which you wear inside the larger pair of shoes and of course the larger shoes themselves.

Also, I've seen it suggested on a couple of sites and by Turk Pipkin that it adds some great clownish effect if you put the fitting shoes on the wrong feet before they go into the big shoes. So you have the fitting left shoe on the right foot and vice versa. Wont help in comfort but is supposedly really funny looking.

I wear over sized shoes myself. Red Converse that are several sizes too big. They are still extremely comfortable and funny looking.
