A friend of mine took a regular thumbtip and covered it with a white cotten glove pulled tight and glued it in place. He wears white gloves with his character and didn't want to take them off for thumb tip effects. By doing this the weave of the cotton glove was stretched. You might try putting the D'Lite in a glove pulling it as tight as you can and see how well the light shines through. I realize it would not be nearly as bright as otherwise but it is an idea.
Another idea is to remove the mechanism and place it in a junior size thumb tip. The D'lites I have used the mechanism is simply hot glued in place. Toss it in the freezer for awhile and then pop it out of the thumb. Work the glue off and there you go. If it is too big to fit the smaller thumb add new glue and place it back in your original tip.
