Juggling hats are often heavy duty and well made, but they can also be heavy and expensive. Really, I'd just recommend searching for a hat which happens to fit your character best and work with it. Any hat should do. You can make appropriate modifications, if necessary. For instance, if it is too soft, try applying rabbit glue inside to stiffen it up. If the brim doesn't hold shape well, attach elastic rubber around the inner brim.
