While heartwarming this story might be
an urban legend. I suspect it is because when my grandfather was separated from his parents by the Anschluss they were reunited by the Red Cross' family location service. (Well, years later, but that was because his parents were in hiding in rural China at the time.) The story says nothing about the husband and wife attempting to locate each other; you'd think they'd search the prison records or something.
