As long as the rate holds for those who HAVE reserved rooms by the cutoff date, I honestly don't see where there should be any problem.
We are expecting some sort of local contingent, also, no? And they won't, exactly, be getting recruited via the clown forum, but in other ways, I imagine. Perhaps not all of them will be staying at the actual hotel (preferring to commute to the get together), but is it not then fair to ask them to contribute something for the use of the room. Honestly, $200 is cheap, especially if we have 20 - 40 clowns attending. It's better if we don't have to pay anything, but asking for 10 or 20 dollars from each participant isn't at all uncalled for. Shoot, if we need to go to a restaurant to hang out, it is going to cost more than that! Perhaps what could be suggested (if need be) would be to ask for a small registration cost which will be waived if you are staying at the convention hotel (and thus contributing in cost layout that way.)
