I've been going there for over a year, they seem to go through activity directors. Part of it, that people with alzhiemers and demenia do get left out, often neglected by families because they don't believe that remember who they are and it's painful for them to see their loved one this way. With HIPPA reg. a lot of places will not let you go to the rooms anymore, as this requires the staff to get prior approval for each room. by asking the residents if they want to meet us, they have the choice of coming or not to the dining room. This is how the facility prefers to handle it. It easier for the staff if we do it this way and they get to participate as well. This is the first time anything has happen and I'm sure it's not the first time some one fell, I just wish it wasn't when we were there and that the staff had went into the dinning area ahead of us instead of staying at the desk. Our contact with them is very limited because I also know a few of them like to hug and not let go and I don't want one of my jr. to get scared or hurt, Generally for this group we only talk with a few min. and sing simple songs I know they'll remember like "Jesus Loves Me". "Amazing Grace". Not actually clowny but I feel approp. for this group. They smile and knows some one cares, but I do think I will cut down the number. We did see one picture posted on the wall, of Flower with another resident in that unit, from a previous visit. That was a nice surprize
