It startles me too my friend!!!
BUT...
I like so much twisting that I couldn't just try to do the easy stuff and not more complicated sculptures.
To tell you the truth I haven't overcome the fear of the poping sound yet so I try not to manipulate too much the balloon in order not to get popped.
Also I inflate the balloon all the way and then let much air go so it can get very soft and not too tight.
