One of the people who has taught makeup and NY Goofs is Mark Renfro, who also teaches makeup at Mooseburger Camp.

Ultimately, the way ones heads with makeup and costuming is more up to personal tastes than anything. I use both full auguste face as well as more minimalistic "new vaudevillian" style makeuping, while my costuming is generally more human scale than extremely oversized. There may be general trends at the various schools (at a more theatrically oriented school like NY Goofs or Clown Conservatory, you'll see different things in greater proportion than at a school like Clown Camp or Moose Camp), but you may also meet all kinds of clowns with varying approaches at any of the above.

i live in west la and did research the clown conservatory in sf...but it seems that they have more full time year long classes...and that wouldn't work for me...
They do sometimes have one day or weekend classes with specific focus emphasis, also.
