Default Rough day!

Boy, did I have a rough day today. My friend asked me if I would like to ride with her to Hammond, which is about 30 miles south of Chicago. She said she wanted to get a hair cut and a bite to eat. I thought it sounded like fun, so I decided to go with her.

We had written directions and figured it would be a snap. Well, were we ever wrong! When we got to the highway, according to our directions, the road we were supposed to take according to our directions said "To Chicago" with an arrow. Well, we didn't want to go to Chicago, we wanted to go to Hammond. We couldn't find the sign to Hammond, so we went straight. We drove and drove and it sure felt like we were getting lost, I'm not sure.

We came to a big bridge and it said, "Watch for Ice on Bridge" ... so we stopped, got out and watched for about an hour, but there was no ice. For Pete's sakes, it was about 70 degrees today ... but we watched and watched anyway. We finally gave up and decided that was another incorrect sign. I'm telling you, the people who make these signs must be half asleep when they make them.

Well, by this time, we were starting to get sort of hungry, and decided to stop for a bite to eat. We went in the restaurant and ordered a hamburger. Geez ... I KNOW for a fact that there was not a speck of ham in it. It was brown, not pink like ham. Plus ... it was huge. Way more than a bite. I bet there were about 10 bites. We ate what we could, paid, and left. The owner of the place came running out after us and told us he had change for us. We totally ignored him because neither one of us wanted to change. The nerve of that guy.

Well, luckily, there was a beauty shop right around the corner so my friend said she wanted to get a hair cut there. I figured about 10 seconds for that ... how long does it take to get a hair cut? Hell-ooo ... it took at least a half an hour. They washed her whole head of hair, and I would guess that not only did they give her a hair cut, but I'd say they probably cut at least 50 of her hairs. Her whole hair style looked totally short.

Well, we were finally on our way home, and I was really getting frustrated with this crazy trip, but it wasn't over yet. Don't you know ... we came to a sign that said, "Stop". So we did. We waited and waited and waited, but it never said, "Go." The people behind us kept honking and honking ... I guess my friend is really well known, because I didn't know any of them. Someone came up to the car and asked if there was anything wrong, and we told him we were waiting for the sign to tell us to go. He shook his head and told us it was ok, and we could go through it. Can you believe the nerve of that guy? Trying to get us in trouble. Well, after all the cars behind us went around us and drove right through the stop sign, we figured we might as well try it too. Luckily, I think the police must have been somewhere else, because we made it through. I feel like a criminal.

Then, because I was tired, I decided to come home and jump in the shower to relax. I wore my favorite tennis shoes so I wouldn't fall as I was jumping in the shower, and they got all wet, and I guess I'm going to have to put them in the dryer.

Geez ... I'll tell ya ... I'm exhausted now.
