To begin with, when I say "story" I do not necessarily mean "novel." It also applies to scripts and ideas.
Apart from scripts and ideas, you have your imitators who try to go with the "scary clown" dealie because they think it's cool...think ICP for that one. I can't stand those guys.

That movie is so bad that it's good, total cult classic. No matter how many times I watch that film, I always find myself rooting for the littlest clown/alien. That one punk shouldn't have broken his bike. I mean, you've seen the movie, so you know how sad the little clown-alien looked...right before he punches that one guy's head off.
