I’m afraid I can’t help with pricing as the UK and US seem to be completely different.
I’m just getting started too and I found the sponge balls easy to work, I bought a pack of four for £1.50 ($3.00) and they came with instructions for appearing / disappearing tricks.
I also got a great little box that can only be opened by holding the top left and bottom right corners – I put a £5.00 note in the box and tell people if they can open it in 30 seconds they can have the money. It’s quite funny when I stand there tapping my foot and looking at my watch while they frustrated try to open the box, I then take the box back, open it and put the money back in my pocket! I have tried it on about 50 adults so far and not one has figured it out!!! Lol
Another neat thing I got was from Axtell (well I say I got, it’s due to arrive on Friday) http://www.axtell.com/illusions.html It’s a magic drawing board (they do a small one that would be ideal for you). I’ll let you look at it for your self.
Have you seen the huge ball and chain props? Put one of them on your ancle and tell the customer you couldn’t pay the bill three years ago and you’ve been stuck in the restaurant entertaining ever since!!!
I love my big pen, it’s about 50 cm long, I’m going to use it for autographs, but you could lend yours to customers to sign if they are paying by card.
Anyway, they’re just a few ideas I had floating about in my head.
All the best
Milo.
