Thanks to the three of you for your kind words. It's nice to read them in this situation.

The stats so far are that she's hooked up to several IV's, a ventilator, and cold packs to prevent brain damage from overheating.
She has been unconscious since 2:30 am and has been resuscitated five separate times so far.

The doctors are not optimistic and have told us right out that she is not expected to make it through this. They're giving her about three more days at the most to live.

In a way, I'm relieved for her. She's been very unwell for as long as I can remember. She often talked about wanting to die to stop the pain. If this is the only way she can stop the pain, then so be it.

I've already made my peace with her at the hospital today. I gave her my final words, even though she was unconscious. While she was unresponsive, her arm did move a little. Still, I know that this is not necessarily an indication that she aware of my presence and it could have simply been an involuntary muscle twitch.

Really, the biggest issue for me at the moment is if she heard me and how long she'll linger in this sorry state.
