I use a cardboard can ("Quaker Oats") with a hole in the plastic top. I use it when only when working a booth For busking balloons at a local restaurant I wear a "Tips Are Appreciated" badge from Kudos Clown and Magic.
I don't like having the money seen after I get it and put it away but get enough tips that others who didn't tip often "remember" and send the kid with a bill or two for my work.
I have heard reports of a local clown who was supposed to be splitting tips with the non-profit he was working for that kept dipping into the tip jar so he would make more and not have to share it as promised. this has cost other clowns business with the organizations for quite a while so no other clowns will work with him due to reports of this and other non-clown actions he has performed. (The moral being be honest cause it pays in the long run)
