I used to use the sock method, but then some other, more experienced clowns warned me that that the sock method made me prone to black lung disease (like coal miners get). They said that the powder puff method reduced the amount of powder I'd be inhaling.

Does anybody know the risks associated with powder inhalation?

Either way, I try to take a deep breath before I powder and to hold my breath until I get the powder brushed off.

I also have to close my eyes, to prevent a powder haze from coating my contact lenses!

Whoever dreamed that there would be so many occupational hazards with clowning?!
