if you are interested in looking like Larry from the three stooges then here is how I'd go about it.
I'd get the basic afro wig from a clown supplier... (Larocks has them at a good price) and I'd cut the actual wig cap into the shape I'd want it. (in your case that would be just cutting away the top section.
Then I'd coat the cut ends of the cap with a thin layer of "Fray Check" found in most fabric and craft stores.
I'd also get a couple of yards of tule fabric and spirit gum and remover. Simply tack the tule into the base of the newly shaped wig cap and apply the spirit gum to the tule. and stick it in place. Hold it there until its dry.
You'll have to reapply new tule each time... but if you do it after getting out of makeup and character then it won't be a hassle as you're trying to get ready for your next gig.
ANother option might be wig/toupee (sp?) tape... but I've never actually used that before.

What is it with Northerners that put sugar in cornbread?? Thats not cornbread! When you put sugar in cornbread it becomes CAKE!!!
Put the sugar in the tea! Thats where it belongs! I like my tea to be so sweet that I can pour it on my pancakes if I run out of syrup!
