My youngest, who was 6 at the time, was having a very serious discussion with his cousin on how to pronounce the word "Spaghetti". Ryan insists to this very day that it is "ska-betty", and Cole argued back that it is most definitely "pis-getty". Even when an adult tried to correct them, neither would give in. It was the funniest conversation between two little kids that I ever had the priviledge of overhearing!
One of my seventh grade students asked me how old I am (I'm told that I look younger than my age). Rather than tell her outright, I thought I'd give her a clue, so I said that weren't 50 stars on the American flag when I was born. She pondered this for a few moments and then her eyes grew wide and she exclaimed, "You mean there were only thirteen !?" I chuckled for the rest of the day about that one! (One never knows....perhaps I really have aged extremely well over the past 200 years!!!)
