Since this has become a Wall-E review thread, I just wanted to add some opinions. As they say, spoilers ahead, so if you haven't seen the movie, read at your own risk.
I loved the movie. I loved it's simplicity. I loved the beauty of the animation and the life given to this trash-compacting robot on treads. While it seems like an ordinary kids movie with a love-theme, there were deeper issues as well. It was an interesting take on society's dependence on the big-box store, and how this dependence can get us in trouble. Indeed, one could argue that the company itself was responsible for the death of the planet and gave rise to the need for Wall-E. Then there was the entire disconnected (or overly connected) and rotund human populace relegated to flying barc-a-loungers.
Anybody else pick up on this?
