Sadly yes... And I think ý know the reason. Mainly familys want their children to have a great birthday. And they get in touch with a clown(pro or amateur) No matter what age the child is. And when the children at the age 1-2 or 3 sees a clown gets so sceared. And after they become clown haters :( when ý get called to partys for a child at the age up to 3 ý tell them what the pscologics say. And refuse to work with them. and mostly they dont use a clown untill the kid is 4... Am ý doing the right thing u think?

yea anouther thing thats good to do is if you see a child that is scare stay away from them alot of the time they arnt scared just shy & most that are scared of Clowns or hate them is cuz the clown would not back off when they were scared. & if the parint pushes the chiold to you tell them "I dont leave metal scars"

vvery nice word... Generally I tell them that there is no meaning to sceare them more. They specially love to force you and the child to take a pic together. No mather what the child is feelng. And when we warn them they think we are the bad man that is not intrested... :(

Its best to let the parints think what they want the child will remember how you wouldn't do anything to scare them & prolly ask for you again

This is a great book on Clown history and The most complete one that I have found thus far.

Another Excellent book is called The World of Clowns by George Bishop. Library of Congress number: 76-14989
ISBN number:0-912588-29-2 It focuses primarily on the development of the American Circus Clown.

I hope this will help you out.

small children used to intimdate me. and I didn't do parties for kids under 3, but after discussing this here and other sites and taking a few more classes, they can be very fun. just did one for the child turing 2, Dad showed him my pic. and all week he said clown coming. When I arrived he was scared so I stayed away from him and played bubble and started face painting. I let him have a wet brush and let him paint me. He became my friend and assisted with magic tricks and let me paint both hands, so you can work with younger kids, just takes planning a preparing them.

There's a book available entitled, "The Pickle Clowns" which offers some history of that circus. Several books are available on the history of Ringling's clowns and Clown College.
