I have my first show in about two weeks for my youth group. All the members are kids in high school, and none of the gags i have are appropriate for that age, all are for much younger. Any suggestions of gags or skits for one clown that would be good for teens would be appreciated.

What gags do you currently have and why do you think they would be appropriate for that age? How many people do you have available to be in the skits?

It's just me. and most of my gags are knockabout and based on things little kids do.

Have you checked YouTube for ideas?

Your request is a blank slate...
What is your purpose for the show? In what context?

What exactly do you do now? Don't worry about gags being for just one age, most gags work regardless, it is just the context in which the gag is done that changes. Trust me, seeing someone's pants fall down or hearing a loud fart is funny whether you are 5 or 55.

My advice is to think about your audience and modify and expand what you already have. Think about things teens do--school, siblings, the local sports teams, summer vacation plans, typical teen summer jobs, pop culture such as music and movies, awkward dates... Is there something to good-naturedly tease the youth pastor about?

Approach it as if you were going to write a Hanna Montanna episode (I know; corny, but age appropriate and inoffensive). Perhaps the "plot" could be learning how to drive with funny mistakes and panicked parents cops and pedestrians...

Pick up a prop. Whatever it may be. Anything at all can be a prop. Start to improvise with it. Develop a scenario within which it is to be used. See where that leads you.

Peachey Keene has a lot of short videos showing off his props and I am sure some could be made into a longer skit.

Here is another fun one... but, don't copy it, use it for inspiration and make it your own.

Justin Bieber?? Who the heck is Justin Bieber??? I hear he's like 16 years old. I have roasts in my freezer older than him. LOL......this is a line I used on some kids and they thought it was hilarious! Look for the things that kids do and watch, then go from there.

Break dance???? HMMMMM........Here's how I break dance........dance and a sudden stop........brake!!!! HIP HOP.......only rabbits can do this well.

Do you kids know what a record is????

Do you see where I'm going here? Give it a shot.

that stuff works well if you're old and saying it to kids.. and depending on the age of the teens.. i actually prefer teens to little kids because i can be myself around them. my other character, is great for teens. they actually approach me and will start conversations and i usually have a couple groupies that follow me around asking questions and stuff lol (remember i'm a young whippersnapper so i can get by with this without being creepy.. most of you couldn't.. :P) oh and justin bieber is a 13 year old who sings about adult situations....
