I have a large foam wand prop. I have not been using it, because one of the white ends has a red stain on it. I'm considering painting the prop, but I'm not sure what kind of paint to use over this foam. Suggestions?

Calm down, calm down....The wand is NOT made out of expandable foam insulation. Nor is it made from pool noodle material. Rather, it is the kind of foam one would use to stuff a pillow. I could have sworn I saw a post on here once about how to paint the stuff. Am I dreaming? I must have inhaled too many expandable foam insulation fumes.

Why don't you lay on it?

If you can't find floral spray paint in the color you want try a paint store that deals only in paint.
HAPPY PAINTING !

Is floral spray paint permanent?

I know that many solvents in paints and glues will dissolve most foams... I seem to recall from my days working on set design in high school that 3M has some products that can protect foam from the solvents and allow you to use glues and paints on them.

floral spray paint isn't solvent based tooney.. that's why they said floral spraypaint and not spray paint. you might also try airbrushing it. i'm pretty sure that's what peachey keen does..

In a class I took on making puppets from foam, Floral Spray was also the paint recommended,

So does that make a harder surface on the foam?--like a Peachy Keene prop? What ratio of paint to latex? Coolio. Thanks.

Now I just went back and read all the posts on the previous page. Hmmm. Not sure if I should use floral paint or acrylic mixed with latex.

Fabric paint may work too. It can be found in Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Maybe dye would work, not sure.

Anyway, whatever you do, I hope you will keep us informed. Your creative adventures in prop making are always interesting.

I really do think a television show would be wonderfully educational and entertaining.

kryloran has small jar of paint that you can get in primary colors. They are at your local hardware store.

the good thing about acrlic mixed in with the latex, it does 2 things one it protects the foam from the elements , and useing the color as needed to make it personal to the item being made Pechie's stuff he does not treet the foam and if water hits it its a mess and mold and smells could happen, with this process its all protected and sealed and every couple of years just take soap and water and clean unit, or even repaint diffrent color, This is the exact process that Karen Bell usesin her foam props and two take it a step further you can gut it out so the work is hollow depending how big you want it thats where the contact cement is so great and after it bonds take sander and smoth and add another section, smoth and seal, I love foam process and makeing my own props......
