I am trying to learn juggling, and dont have a set of balls yet. Socks dont work well, too light.

I looked around my room for things to practice with. I saw balloons.

NO, not water balloons. Well, kind of.

I stretched them open and put about a table spoon of magicians slush powder in 3 balloons (one tbs each). I then filled them to the size I want with water and tied them off and cut off the extra balloon. As long as the balloon is not stretched a lot, you shouldnt worry much about breaking them. I used nine inch balloons filled to about 2.75 inches (I think).

They work great and dont roll away. Thought I'd share.

And there seems to be a bit in this, too!

You can fill a 11-inch round balloon with sand, rice, or beans to make juggling balls. Stretch a 2nd and 3rd balloon over the first for added strength.

They look like water balloons, sound like water balloons, react like water balloons, but are stronger. Maybe that could be used for some sort of bit...

Maybe a magic routine to start. A crystal silk cylinder. Show white balloons, drop them in, 3 colored silks, cover it with the tube. Add some water via milk pitcher and then some magic words. Presto! Three colored water balloons for juggling with!

Why not use some tennis balls? I do it, but i plan to do some modification to them to make them heavier and easier to use :P

Try toliet paper. Just kidding. I kid you not....someone on the clown forum once suggested I start learning how to juggle with toliet paper....not the best choice for a beginner!

Then someone else gave me the same suggestion as Sir Tooney Van Dukes. As a beggining juggler, I have found that the balloons with rice were a great place for me to start. What I liked the most about rice in the balloons is that I already had the items in my house and they are cheap to get especially when you are new to clowning and have tons of stuff to purchase. The balloons with rice also easy to throw and catch. I hope you catch on!

My Brigade makes it's won juggling balls. We sew cubes of brightly colored canvas together. We stuff them with wood stove pellets. They are cheap and last forever.
