What are all you clowns doing this summer? What have you already done and what is on the calendar?

We did the BBQ. This Friday night we are going into the city to The Projects and presenting a couple skits to K-6 graders. Possibly a nursing home in the near future. Our town has what we call "Raytown Roundup Days" with food/craft/business booths and a parage. We may be doing some facepainting. Strawberry Festival for the Baptist Children's Home nearby.

Hmmm...that's a pretty full schedule for me!

Well, my sister-in-law and I did a community picnic this past Sunday and it went really well. She just decided recently to get into clowning, so this was her first event. We have also been attending a class all this month that one of the clowns in my alley puts on that shows you how to apply makeup, what clowning is about and a little history, etc. Then on the 31st, we have a Vacation Bible School where all of us "First of May" clowns will do walk arounds for the kids and parents.
I was going to go to the Clowning4Christ conference in Missouri in September, but it's looking like a family crisis will prevent that. I'm going to have to go out there sooner and can't afford to go again so soon. Sorry, MercyMe. Guess we'll meet some other time. I'm bummed, but it can't be helped.
God bless.

We this has been a slow year for us as my partner has been ill, but we're heading into our busy time. We do clown rounds at the hospital once a month, a Creative MInistry Service in Sept., With a local food kitchen as soon as I get it planned out, and one my favorites Care Camp [which is a day camp for children going through the grieving process sponsored by Hospice( And yes clowns can be appropriate at a memorial service.)] October is getting full.

Sue,
I'd love to know how you do clowning at a memorial service! I have a friend who is terminal with cancer and he loves clowns. I would like to do something at his memorial, but wasn't sure how to go about it.

We had the greatest time at Freedom Fire. I had to admit I was nervous going into the inner city to participate. The Freedom Fire group of volunteers does something in this particular development every single Friday night. We helped entertain. Those kids are so starved for affection!! It just hurts your heart to see it. I gave and received so many hugs from those sweet kids.
We want to go back! Maybe with some slights of hand.

And it wasn't hot!! Praise God! It was in the mid 70's with a wonderful breeze.

Afterwards we ate at Denny's. Talked with some kids, sang happy birthday to a man, gave the waiter a hard time :hammer: (he was a good sport and had some make up questions for us).

All in all a fantabulous evening!
