Maybe we should start a "Successful party/GIG Tips post"

Part of my 15min doing business I ask the parents not to do the cake and ice cream during my performance. I tell them at the end of my performance I will gather the children and bring them to the cake and start the birthday song. I then secretly slip away Like magic I disappear!! This also helps to end a balloon line!! And the stress of crying kids because I am leaving. And the parents really appreciate the help!! Of course this only works if I have taken care of business before the Gig!!

OK as far as business goes, what is everyone tip for a successful party.

Mine would be have a contract with responsiblities of both parties stated, which included payment, how, when, etc

agreed i like my payment in a envelope i don't want to be seen taking money either. but i do want it before the gig. i like to show up early as i feel you have to in order to set up and be ready to start the show at the time. some super moms have the party all planned out to the second ok maybe not that close but you get my point. they pay you for an hour they may want you done in that hour for cake and other games.
