We are doing a skit called "Respect" for the childrens service on "Rally Day" which is the day the children are welcomed back to Sunday School. (Sept. 12th) I will let you know how it works out. My daughter and I are "newbe" clowns and just starting our Clowns for Christ careers ! We did do a skit called "Mama knows best" for a Mother /Daughter banguet in May. What a hoot !!! Very Funny but with a christian message. Everyone including the children loved it !
Well "WE DID IT"!!!!! It went terriffically !!!!! I recomend it to everyone!!! The kids and adults all loved it.

Could you email that (Mama knows best) skit to me at clownjodie@yahoo.com ? Or let me know where I can find it? Sounds like a skit my sister and I could use.
Thanks a bunch ahead of time. Jodie

Does everyone here know the "rat trap" skit? It's a short and sweet skit about obedience. You need 1 clown and one "non-clown," as well as one of those traditional wood/metal springing rat traps. What you do is have the reg. person come out and talk something about how there's a rat problem, and they have the trap to help with it, blah, blah, blah. The clown comes out. Now, I'm mute, so when I do it, I have to indicate waht I want and have my normal person do all the talking, but if a talking clown does it of course it can be handled differently. The gist is for the clown to indicate to the person that they want to take the trap "out back" to set it up themselves, and the reg person has to be like "I'm not so sure, this is really dangerous," Now, earlier, the person has snapped the trap a little to show that it does really work( not set it off, just pulled back the snapper a little and let it go). but while they've been talking, they discreetly unhinge the trap so its no longer spring loaded and harmless, unbeknownst to the audience.

So the person agrees to the the clown do it, but instructs them clearly not to play with it, warns them to be careful, so on. It's very important that they clearly give the clown some sort of instruction. The person pretends to "set" the now un-springed trap, and carefully hands it to the clown. clown takes the trap and walks off stage, out of site. Person ad libs like "I hope they listen and are careful with that" so on and so forth. While that's goign on, backstage the clown resets the springs and makes a snapping noise with the trap. person up front reacts. This is where it differs if you talk as a clown or not. With me mute, the straight person acts like the clown might have caught soemthing. with a talking clown, the clown can yowl, making it obvious they got caught. Either way, the clown slips his hand carefully into the trap, as if they snapped themselves, and comes out. As a mute I hold of the moment of reveal and keep my hand behind my back for a bit. "I heard the trap go off, did it" (I nod) "did we catch a mouse?" (I shake no) and so on.

The person helps the clown out, talks about the importance of following instruction, relating it to the fact that God has given us instructions in the Bible and we need to follow them because if we don't, we can get hurt.
