I have a question for those that facepaint at public events. Do you paint a child without an adult present?
If little six year old Johnny gets in line and mom/dad is no where in sight, do you ask him to go find them and come back? Do you let them come on up to the front of the line?

I am on a facepainting email list and we just handled this question.
I have been told it's very effective to have a sign that says for insurance reasons, you cannot paint anyone under 12 without a parent or responsible adult present. This also cuts down on rowdy kids taking up your time because they know there isn't anybody to tell them to stop.

We had a meeting of the clown minds and decided we definately needed a sign stating children had to be accompanied by an adult. We also decided we would limit any "free venue" painting to one so that everyone can get painted and we don't use all our white on just a couple kids who want this and this and this........ :-?
