View Full Version : PA Systems
As a newbie I would like to know how big and what kind of a pa system people are using. I would like portability, easy set up/take down, the ability to have 2 or 3 mics plus an MP3 or CD player, lots of power or the ability to add more as needed, one last thing- COST EFFECTIVE! I'm sure lots of you have lots of knowledge in this area and can point me in the right direction. Thanks guys
StuartPid 08-23-2010, 02:15 PM You are asking alot of a portable low cost easy to set up system. I would suggest you start here and look around. https://www.magicandsoundsystems.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=71&language=en
It isn't cheap, but I have a Yamaha Stagepas 500 PA system. It's more for music/vocal work, but I can use it just as easily for a larger clowning/variety entertainment gig, also. It's fairly compact and versatile and an overall good system. But, again, that's if you can afford several hundred dollars and will get the usage out of it.
Bonkers #361 08-24-2010, 08:54 AM I use the Happy Amp it is about the size of a oversized purse and I have 1 wireless mic and I hook my mp3 into. I love it. You can also get it with 2 Wirless mics now. I might buy that one next. The thing I love is that it is rechargeable. That way I dont have to have any cables

Brian Foshee (who also sells the happie amp) also promotes a product made by Jim Kleefeld called Sound Control.. it's a remote system that plugs into your ipod and you can controll track, volume, start, stop.. all from your pocket.. the remote is textured so you don't have to look at it to use it, so you can keep it in a pocket at all times and just push the button from the outside of your clothes which makes it look like you have your own virtual sound man.
here's a link to his website..

StuartPid 08-24-2010, 11:48 PM I was a HUGE supporter of the happie amp until I saw the Mipro system it is FAR superior I believe but also more expensive. There have been some issues with the happie amp that are supposed to be getting fixed so I am hanging on to mine waiting to see what happens with them. The company is great and responds VERY fast to issues. I was getting some static from mine and they sent me one that uses different frequencies for the mics, which happens to match the handheld mic I have from another system so I can use that with it too YAY.

Just use your remote???????
Pickles 08-25-2010, 10:31 AM Sean and Bonkers,
Can you tell me what types of events you use your Happie Amp at? I typically don't need a system for birthday parties, but I have been in situations -- in gyms and outdoor festivals and picnics -- where I could have used a system. How large of an event can you use this at? I know that the product description gives guidelines, but I'm interested in your experiences with this product.
Sean, any idea when the new and improved Happie Amp is going to debut? If you hear anything, please let us know.
Also, has anybody used the GMC 100 that is advertised on the Happie Amp site?
Bonkers #361 08-25-2010, 10:57 AM I have used mine in preschools and out side at a family picnic and have had people inpressed with it's little size. I met Brian last year and bought it because his system over powerd a much larger system in the next room. they came over and asked him to turn it down twice. He claims that it could handle a group of 300 I don't know about that yet.
