I saw a guy do a skit with balloons at the tail end of his magic show. He called a kid out of the audience and basically made the kid into an astronaut. He staarted with the ray gun, then the gun belt, then a helmet with hose that connected to a 360 that looked like a scuba tank on the kids back. I don't remembr the patter he used but all the adults thought it was funny. He was pretty good.

I have taken and adult (usually the birthday childs father) and dressed him up in balloons like a hula dancer with the skirt and the head piece, etc.

I once read somewhere (on this forum I think) about "hypnotizing" a balloon. I tried it a couple of times in front of an audience and it was a blast; no pun intended. I start by blowing up a balloon and show the audience how I can make it move up and down and side to side. Keep in mind that I don't tie the end off. Afterwards, I say on the count of three I am going to snap my fingers and the balloon will wake up. After I say three and snap my finger, I let go of the balloon and it flys all over the room. So far, it has worked well. Of course you want to make sure you retrieve the balloon in case there are small children present.

The hypnotized balloon routine is often a part of the needle through the balloon routine.

Jonah in the Whale is Ralph Dewey's routine and can still be purchased in one of his balloon pamphlets, if you want to do a balloon show I recommend all of these they used to be $5=$6 each.

hmmm I can't remember her name Sandy Shay I think has story telling balloon tapes for sale where she tells a story making a large balloon sculpture... I found them a little slow for me... Maybe I have add.
I have one of them and she has stories in some of the entertainers publications.
I have done Brown Bear what do you see story with balloons good for the 3-5 crowd.
If you have a good imagination make up your own story to tell and video tape each rehearsal, making it better each time!
A clown buildih your own circus maybe?
Let us know what you come up with!!!

i think im going in a different direction here. im not looking for storytelling with balloons. im looking for magic tricks, like making the card appear from under the dogs head with a tapered deck, or making a 20 disappear and showing back up in a dog body. something along those lines...

but thanks for the story ideas, i can always incorporate one or two of them.

I saw a guy who popped a dog balloon, put the pieces in a paper bag, then popped the bag and made the dog come out assembled again.

I think he must have had a 2 layer bag, and a solid dog was inside which he pulled out.

I've done that trick before and it works pretty good, and easy too.

The only prep is to cut the paperbag that lies inside at the top so it appears to be just 1 bag. The blown up dog lies on the inside, underneath the first bag, so all you have to do is access the hidden layer and remove the 2nd dog, making it appear as if the dog was reassembled....

using that same premis, it might be fun to put in a catapillar and pull out a butterfly...

if you used a b body for the caterpiller, could you not use 260 for the wings and then hold the wings around the body to represent the cacoon then reveal the butterfly?

Ooh!

And while it's getting a bit complicated: turning an egg into a dove!
Or make a tiny ______ grow into a large ________ (fill in the blank as you please.)

I like the one where you put something in a bag, dump it out and it's just confetti. Maybe I just like confetti too much...... :P
