17:4 A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue. 17:5 Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished." (Proverbs 17:4-5 KJV)

I thought it appropriate given some of the comments on here lol

I have always liked John 15:12, where the Lord says, "This is my commandment, That ye love another, as I have loved you."

After doing a google search to find out who Sally Rand was, and viewing several pictures, I was reminded of what is probibly my least favorite (but still very often on my mind) verse. Matthew 5:28

Although this thread is nice and peaceful (and I appreciate that more than you know) I will simply mention that although this is the ministry section there have been requests that we focus on clowning.

We have had a tremendous number of threads all across the Forum that only marginally pertain to clowning if at all, and while they do serve a useful purpose they should not outnumber the active threads that focus on clowning.

Over the years as I've read and reread the Bible I have marked a number of verses that have held special meaning at that particular time. It has always amazed me how at one reading these verses jump out at me and during the next it is usually a completely different variety of texts.

I would like to remind everyone that we are just looking for favortie verses here. We are not debating the use of Scripture in clowning.

On a personal note there have been many mebers of my family in the Navy. Psalm 18:16 is a favored verse in my family

He reached down from on High and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters.

(See, there were clown cars even in Biblical times.)

Act 1:14 very nice. It is very hard to get car jokes out of the Bible.

Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might!

this is the entire verse:

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

With the entire verse it becomes clear this verse is about finding your calling and doing it to the best of your ability. This entire chapter is very relevant to anyone looking for their way in life.

The final verses of this chapter are as follows:

13 I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me: 14 There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siege works against it. 15 Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man. 16 So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

17 The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded
than the shouts of a ruler of fools.
18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war,
but one sinner destroys much good.

pretty sure that is not a personal attack.. he didn't mention any names, nor was he attacking anyone.. you're the one who brought up that term.. maybe alex just believes that whatever you do, you should do it well and the best that you can.

Alex meant this to be a masturbation joke ...

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Some interesting back history to your verse Tim:

At that time they would make the oxen's yoke specifically to fit them, so it fit like a glove. Also, the new ox would be paired with an experienced ox whom they would learn from. The older ox would pull most of the weight while the younger one learned.

That info. threw a whole new light on that verse for me.
