Maybe I should post this in you know your a clown when.
But only I could buy a defective Magic Coloring Book. I ordered an extra large Magic coloring book from not my regular dealer but non the less a reputable dealer and when I went to thumb through it tonight the first lined drawing of the MC. of the circus is upside down. Then the colored one of him is right side up. It wouldn't be so bad but it is the first picture. Now what do I do? There has to be a good joke in there somewhere. Do I play with the kid like he stood upside down or used the wrong end of his magic wand or what? Anyone else got any good jokey ideas?
Thanks,
Sara K.

Sean,
You missed the point of my post. I could probably send it back but don't you think that this could make another opportunity to play with it to make it funny. That is what I was asking for - Humor from a clown group.
Anyway the book was shrink wrapped and I was doubtful that after opening it I could send it back. I did email them last night saying what happened and they got right back to me today saying that they would send me a new one right away. When I ordered it originally I didn't really need it till my schools carnival celebration which is the end of May but I had something come up and could use it by this next weekend. The dealer was very helpful and is sending me a new one. So now I suppose I should send it back but I was thinking why give up another opportunity to be "funny". I thought of the two ideas above anyone else got any ideas. I will send them payment to keep the defective one if I think I can really use it too. I mean how many clown/magicians have a magic coloring book with the first page upside down?

I understood the post.. and if the whole colored section was upside down then I could see making it into a bit or something but one picture...
It might work well as some sort of inside joke among other magicians/clowns who already know how the trick works. I think it would just overly complicate things for a regular routine, though, where it is sort of important that the "magic" happens right.

It likely depends on how many people share your supplier.
Tim is dead on here in my opinion. The magic coloring book isn't exactly a show stopper and is slow paced as-is. To add further details or complications to the routine would slow it down waaaaay too much to be entertaining.
The coloring book is geared towards kids, and I'm not sure adding to the length of a routine like this is an improvement. Adults aren't much better when it comes to being in the audience of variety acts, their attention span goes way down as well. This is why the "new and improved vanishing bandana" sucks. It goes too long and takes the attention away from the act and tries to make up for it by providing a supposedly funny audio track. It made the act worse, and complicating the coloring book may end in the same result.
