View Full Version : Free balloon how-to's
jenzoandlucytheclowns 11-15-2006, 10:05 PM I came across a website several weeks ago that had hundreds of free how-to make balloon animals. It had pictures step by step, and had many balloon animals that I don't know how to make. I thought I saved it in my favorites, but I didn't, and it's been to long ago to still be saved in my computer's history. Does anyone know of a website that has this? If so, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Twinkles 12-25-2006, 11:24 PM Did you mean this site?
http://www.balloonattractions.com/balloon_town/training_center/
There's also www.mbd2.com The instructions section isn't free, but very reasonable for the huge amount of information located there..
Hope that helps..
mbd2.com is great site with lots of instructions and very helpful people
There is no set amount to join but Dale takes donations and it is well worth the money
My business has tripled since joinging this Forum and mbd2
and if the need arises I would donate to this site as well You can not put a price on the information you can get from either site

If you have a balloon design that you're in need of, and don't see it on this list - feel free to ask and I'll see if I have it somewhere; or can twist one up if I don't.
Nettie Belle 12-25-2007, 04:39 PM Those are good. I'm going to try some of them. If I get the hang of them, maybe I can expand. Actually, I've learned some new stuff.
Here's an idea ... someone needs to come up with an audio instruction tape ... like in the detective movies where someone is speaking to someone else, giving them instructions through a very small, undetected earpiece. I'm telling you ... it could be a money maker. Many clowns like myself, would be happy to buy something that tells step-by-step instructions. I'm convinced, clowns spend more money on STUFF than any other profession ... I think.
So ... get busy, guys ... here's your idea ... let me know when it's marketed. And don't forget my cut in the profits.
Fitzwilly 12-25-2007, 07:09 PM If it worked like the ones the weather guys use you can count on the outcome being different that what was advertised about 80 percent of the time.

Hey Jolly... if anyone would know I am sure it would be you....
I am looking for Ralph Dewey's "Keys to the Kingdom Balloon Routine" on VHS/DVD do you know where I can find it??? I have looked but to no avail...Can you help???
Vegetus 01-11-2008, 10:03 AM Here (http://home.flash.net/~balloonz/videos.htm) is the only list I could find of Ralph Dewey material - books & videos.
The only Keys to the Kingdom routine I've ever heard of is magic with gimmicked cards - no balloon involved. I'll look around and see if I can find something; but I've no knowledge of it at present.
************************
My laptop issues have slowed my attempts at a balloon database - I'll add more as soon as I'm up and running again.
Also, I have some instruction for a floor model balloon pump that I can offer if anyone is interested. I prefer to send these via clown mail or email; as I'd rather them not be published.

Sassy, have you tried asking Ralph himself he has any left? I think he is at Diamond Jam this week but you could start with his website. His emial is: balloonz@flash.net (balloonz@flash.net) or the business line:
Phone: 1-888-894-6597 (Toll-free weekdays 10am to 6pm central time)
I have been doing a little looking and although he is teaching it, he may not have it on DVD yet.
Found another number: (281) 479-2759 between 9AM and 5PM CST Monday through Friday.
Sassy! Ralph will be in Indianapolis for the Clown Train event so if you don't talk to him before that there is your perfect opportunity.
Sassy Frass 01-12-2008, 07:18 AM I really need this asap and I have e-mailed Ralph (no reply)..he's a BUSY guy! SSSSOOO I will try the 800 number from abovu I have tried the other one...THANKS FITZWILLY!!!

I think that this balloon routine of Ralph's is relativly new and may not even be on VHS/DVD yet??? Just guessing...

They have two seasons in Buffalo winter and July11th
Bumbles 01-14-2008, 02:20 PM No, the two seasons are Winter and Road Construction.
Happy Chappy & Daisy 01-14-2008, 02:32 PM That reminds me of my time in Minot ND. It snowed three days before the end of summer. The only reason I didn't leave is because they would have shot me for desertion in time of war. There were some mornings I still flipped a coin before getting dressed...
Vegetus 01-16-2008, 10:41 AM I added some more links from my compilation - hopefully someone gets some use out of them. Still quite a few links to go before I get into my hard copies and personal designs.
I'll try to get a website up somewhere that I can dedicate to the designs I'll have to twist and photograph at home to put up some intructions for.
Til then; keep checking back here for the rest of the designs have that are online and can link to...
Happy Chappy & Daisy 01-16-2008, 11:56 AM This is another case where that Wiki would come in handy, to record these links and any original designs.
Sassy Frass 01-21-2008, 06:50 AM Thank You guys for the wealth of resource!!
Vegetus 01-21-2008, 09:58 AM Good visuals explaining the various twists and techniques at this (http://deantheballoonatic.com/insttwistmenu.html) site. Some balloon instructions there as well. Vegetus 01-24-2008, 07:37 AM Here's another link.... It's owned by a guy named Steve who collects instructions from all over the web and has them in one spot... The Balloon Buffoons Instruction Lister - [Powered by Directory97] (http://www.theballoonbuffoon.com/instructions/)
A lot of broken or bad links here unfortunately :(
Looks like it may have been a nice compilation at one time, but evidently the owner has let the site atrophy or the security of it has been compromised. (unsure of which, I stopped clicking on links when I reached the sections on hydrocodone, vicodin, dating sites, and adult movies - I don't think my twisting ability is up to it.) 8-)
Bumbles 01-24-2008, 08:47 AM Your right to much junk on the site to be any good.

ACK!!!!!! I'm so sorry.... I had that link saved from forever ago... so I haven't gone through it in forever myself.... I do apologize...
Vegetus 01-24-2008, 04:52 PM Hehe, not a problem - it happens. It looks like it was a really nice instructional resource at one time; too bad the host let it go :(
Still some balloon how-to's on it, I even picked up a few that I liked. :)
Twinkles 01-24-2008, 07:38 PM Then maybe we could start a new thing... say... someone posts a photo or a link to a photo of a balloon design that they don't know how to make... and any interested parties could try and figure it out... and post directions, or at least guidelines...
I'm not the best twister in the world... but I'm o.k... I'd like to help.. :-)
Fitzwilly 01-25-2008, 12:50 AM This sounds like fun to me. Lets make it a go.
Twisted Librarian 05-27-2008, 02:50 PM Hi everyone,
First off: I'm not a clown! (Sorry.) I'm a librarian who makes balloon animals for the younger children who come into my library. Normally, I ask the child what their favorite animal is, and go from there (and then give them the hard sell on books while I'm twisting). Last week, though, I had a child tell me that his favorite animal was a kangaroo. Unfortunately, I can't do a kangaroo. But that didn't stop me! So after not finding any examples online, I tried to make one and it turned out very well. Of course, as soon as the other kids in the library saw his, everyone wanted one (including staff), so I've gotten a lot of practice making it. I'm attaching a photo of a completed one, and here is how I created it:
The Kangaroo (1 balloon):
1.) Inflate the balloon, leaving about 4 inches not inflated at the end.
2.) I started with a standard dog head of one oblong (about 2 inches) balloon and two smaller (about 1 inch.) balloons for the ears.
3.) Another small ball for the neck (about 1 inch.)
4.) I then did four balloons of the same size to make the arms/hands. (Also about 1 inch each.)
5.) Next is another oblong balloon for the body. (About 2-3 inches long.)
6.) At this point, I tuck the completed section under my arm and work on the legs. I know that might sound a little complicated, but if I can do it while holding a copy of Harry Potter and talking about Summer Reading events, I know you all can do it!
7.) The first leg starts with one oblong balloon (about 2 inches) followed by a small balloon (about 1 inch) and another oblong balloon (2 inches.) Bean twist the small balloon. Now you have a leg, heel, and foot.
8.) Repeat this process again to create the other leg, but this time, you're working from the foot to the heel to the leg. (The legs are connected at the toes.)
9.) The left-over balloon is your tale, which can be bent to resemble a more kangaroo-like shape.
I hope this helps. I know that this forum has been a HUGE help to me whenever I can't figure out an animal's design. Have a great day!
Best,
Chris
