I know it sounds way off base when you first listen to it. But this is a market very few clowns are aware of. Speak with funeral directors in your area. When I do a funeral I set up in a separate room. When kids coming to the visitation are getting out of hand they are sent to the clown room.

In the clown room we do crafts, play games I make balloons and do small magic shows for them. The first one I did in my area went so well the director started calling me and just adding my fee to his funeral arrangements.

When you think of it that way this is a great way to clown as well. And it is an area that hardly any clowns are working in. Give it some thought.

My goal in life is to own a funeral parlor and specialize in FUNerals... They're so silly.

I had some high schoolers get onto my Gig Salad account asking for just the above. I could tell it was kids who already knew me and were playing a joke but they really weren't too far from wrong. I will have to send them the link to this thread!

That's an interesting idea; thanks for sharing it! It's true, funerals and weddings are a couple of the toughest places to attend (in a relaxed manner) with young children.

Unusual idea, might consider it myself... I remember when my grandmother died and there were so many small ones the director came and took them on a little tour [nothing scary], but to entertain and distract so the adults could have some peace.

I did a funeral last summer. A friend of the family hired me for two 8 year old boys and whoever else showed up. They watched their dad die after he was stung by a bee. He was coaching their baseball game and just dropped in the dugout.

There was a time when i considered becoming an undertaker, but the thought of COMBINING it with clowning never even crossed my mind. An interesting idea indeed... A clown-prepping would certainly make open casket funner.

I'm morbid.
