View Full Version : What makes a great clown forum?
Webmaster 08-24-2004, 11:52 AM As you all know I have been working VERY hard on the clown-forum over the past few months. I feel that we are finally getting there.
My question for you all is:
What makes a great clown forum?
Is it the people?
The quality of the posts?
What can WE do here to make more clowns happy and to improve the site?
As you also all know, I am willing to pour my heart into ANYTHING that will make this forum more fun and interactive. Just say the word.
Any help or feedback is always appreciated.
Dave
saphireSue 08-25-2004, 05:26 PM I think your doing it. Looking forward to all the changes
Jubilee 08-26-2004, 09:15 AM Ditto.
I think the changes you are already making are going to add to this site greatly. The people make it a wonderful place to interact too.

cianuro 08-27-2004, 10:19 PM :) I think we are all agreed that what you are doing is more than enough to make it the greatest clown-forum
;)
Great job!
Gilbert 09-24-2004, 05:43 PM The only suggestion that comes to mind for an improvement is for a posts since your last visit section. I have seen it in other forums and have one on my own forum. My forum uses PhpBB with a few Mods added. The resent posts link comes as part of PhpBB. What Forum are you using?
Webmaster 09-25-2004, 04:07 AM :D
OK, now for the tech stuff.
Actually, this forum is using PHPBB (In case you did not notice) albeit a very modified version. Actually its the version that comes bundled with PHPNUKE which is running this website.
Previously it was using XOOPS which is brutal in my opinion so I had to change it over. There are still a lot of small problems with the site because all the members from the XOOPS system as well as the posts from the XOOPS forum (newbb) had to be transfered to the nuke table format. If you were around here the time of the change, you would have seen that it was not a pretty sight!
I am really working hard behind the scenes to get things sorted and adding more features. Feedback like this is always welcomed.
In the coming weeks, I will be moving the forums from the main page and having just the "Latest Posts" on the main page. As I said, there is a LOT of work going on behind the scenes as this website is not another simple CMS install.
Anyway, thanks again Gilbert. All feedback is greatly appreciated.
PS: I will reply to your provate message (PM) later. Need some sleep!
Keep clowning!
Dave
Gilbert 09-25-2004, 09:13 AM After I sent the post I noticed that you had a message at the bottom of each page mentioning Php-Nuke. However I had not realised it was based on PhpBB.
I must confess my forum has been deliberateyl kept in it's origional format because I am still working on some bits and I do not want any additional complications. I had enough of them before it wen't online! I will work on the look and feel when all the Mods have been installed. The rest of them need installing by hand so I am learning Php programming before I start work on them.
Picaburu 10-05-2004, 03:44 PM I simply love this forum. In my personal opinion, t think that if any forum would like need to be good... It needs to do a chance of exchange information... doing some friendships or something like it... And try do maintain a open conversation....
I hope that I can do many friends here and exchange a lot of experiences...

Thanks for the kind words, but as I said, this website is for you guys mainly so if there is ANYTHING you would like, no matter how small or large, just let me know.
Gilbert 10-07-2004, 06:40 PM How about £1,000,0000?
Webmaster 10-07-2004, 07:26 PM Trusdt me, If I could give THAT to any one of you guys, I would.
Gilbert 10-08-2004, 05:13 PM Don't give us that rubbish Webmaster! If any of us had that sort of money spare we'd probably recruit the best clowns we could to start a clown school!
Dynamo 08-16-2010, 02:09 AM If we were only one big happy family.
Pinky the Clown 08-16-2010, 07:18 AM Looking to the future, because I know that this would probably be hard to offer as of right now. I think it would be so cool to have some video conferencing so that we could have "virtual" balloon jams or "virtual" whatever kind of jam. Or, offer some classes online. I use to work for a conferencing company and the technology is there for it. Probably expensive. Like I said, for the future.
I am not too familiar with the arcade. I would like to have some instructions regarding which keys to use on the computer to be posted clearly as well as instructions. I would like to see a clear link to the arcade. Seems like I have to challenge someone and have them accept the challenge in order to play an arcade game.
I like this forum a whole lot because everyone has been so helpful to me. I like how I can post a question or something and get feedback or advice. It's been alot of fun and I have already learned a lot just being on the forum for a couple of weeks.
Scruffy 08-16-2010, 02:00 PM This thread is so old, that that was put up by the original webmaster, the guy who started the forum!
Makes me glad to see that SOMEONE is at least reading the archives!
Wow, I come on the forum for the first time in weeks and this 'Webmaster' guy is talking about making all sorts of changes and I thought there was a hostile takeover from the Princess. I was about to protest! Nobody overthrows my princess!
Then I got smarter.
Then I got smarter.
I wish we would all get smarter.
Harpoetta 08-20-2010, 01:53 PM Pinky, there is a skinny yellow balloon at the top of the page that says "Funhouse" - this is the arcade. It is between a purple balloon and a pink balloon. I think that if you click on a game, it will give you the option to start the game or see the instructions. The one's I've played all have this.
Pinky the Clown 08-20-2010, 08:24 PM Duh, the natural blonde I am...I didn't know those balloons where actual links....way cool!
