Wowza 02-19-2007, 01:49 PM Hey all.
Just wanted to take a second to introduce myself.
I am extremely new to clowning, though I've been a goof all my life. My wife joined our church's clown ministry about six months ago, and she's had a ball with it. Following her lead, I answered the call and have joined as well.
I posted a few pics at my first attempt at makeup and welcome your advice, tips and suggestions. I'll be working on my costume and am trying to decide on which hat looks better. In addition, I'd be especially interested in nose advice.
Thanks in advance. I'm really glad I found the forum!

The_Princess_of_Bozonia 02-19-2007, 10:09 PM Welcome Wowza! Wowza, what a great name for a clown :)
saphireSue 02-20-2007, 08:18 PM Howdy and welcome to the forum. I looked at your pic. Looks good, black around the white looks good, but you might want to try leaving it off and blend the blush over top at cheeks and see what that looks like, and be sure out line you eyes. Both hats look good, depends on costume, but if I had to choose between the two, I like the floppy one better. Love the shape of your eyes.
Like all of us your face will change as you grow and decide on different things
Dont be afraid to try different faces and different types of faces
I think you did a great job with your make up
Some might say the white is too big but I think it fits your face pretty good
And welcome to the forum
Shoq T. Clown 02-20-2007, 11:08 PM i would recommend using the Live Eye Techique... apply eyeliner to your bottom lid... this will make your eyes POP and make your expressions better! Shoot i have my very own Mary Kay dealer LOL and I am a GUY! (liquid i find works the best for us guys to apply without stabbing ourselfs).
heres a pic for a reference...

Be careful cause if you look closly at this pic.. i blinked before it was dry LOL my upper lash made it smudge!
Shoq T. Clown 02-20-2007, 11:14 PM Another tip... go to www.proknows.com thats the brand i use and LOVE! Also i would like to see the res high lights up closer to the nose... maybe something on the chin... i dunno.. i would have to see it with the suggestions here first...
I think that's an absolutely fantastic look (particularly with the bowler). I agree about something for outlining of eyes. Maybe just a blushy red (in circles perhaps) rather than the red greaspaint on the cheeks. A little extension, possible, on the nose with a flesh colored nose or tip (with a dot of red on the end if you like).
Wowza 02-21-2007, 09:21 AM Thanks for all the tips and advice. And for the welcome to the forum.
My outfit is almost complete. Just needs a little fine-tuning, but I'll be sure to post pics when all is said and done. I'm having difficulty finding a nose. I went to the one and only local magic shop / costume shop in the area and picked up a ProKnows BS1, but it turns out it is too small. So I'm off to the shop again to see if they have something bigger. Otherwise, it looks like I'll be putting in an order with ProKnows. I am concerned about sizing, however, and wish there was another shop nearby where I could try noses on for size.
Again, thanks for the welcome.
Push the magic shop to let you try something on before you buy. If you're pretty sure that it's what you want but not sure if it will fit they might let you (especially if you had the problem already). Some clown suppliers will have a set of noses which can be used to try on for size and look apart from their boxed and sealed noses for purchase.
Wowza 02-21-2007, 08:53 PM So I got a nose---
And believe me, that is putting it lightly. I ended up with a ProKnows CL, simply because the shop had nothing else remotely close to fitting my schnoz. The shop itself is a costume and magic shop with a small selection of clown accessories. While I know I could have gotten something online, I really wanted to be able to see and feel what I was buying. Anyway, after about 20 minutes with my Dremel (God, I love that thing), I now have what I think is a very usable nose. I basically took the top of the nose off, shaping it more like the BS-1 I was originally sold. I think it looks great. As I said, I will post some pics as soon as I get everything together.
Thanks again for all the advice. Believe me, it has not fallen on deaf ears and I'm eager to try everything that's been suggested. Well, all except the eyeliner. I don't think any guy looks forward to sharpened pencils near the eyes, but I may be wrong. Despite my hesitation, rest assured I'll be trying it.
