Im putting this on here, not because its any good for line work, but because its my favourite. The effect can be stunning.
It results in a tubular structure with spiralling spines.
You can make it in different widths, and different combinations of colours.

start off with 9 x 260 balloons inflated with a 5inch tail, tie them into 3sets of 3, each set a different colour ( its easier to learn this way)

wind the sets around each other so they are connected, arrange the 3 sets of 3 in their seperate groups. I lay it out on the floor so the balloons are flat but laying on top of each other.

take the lowest balloon of each group, bend it forwards and upwards and twist the 3 together.
keep the colours in their groups and lined up, the middle balloon has now become the lower balloon.

take the lower balloons again, bend forward and upward and twist together. keep repeating and youll see the effect grow.
add on more balloons if you want a longer column/garland.

It just a matter of juggling the colours around to get different looks.
Also you can change the grouping to alter the width, eg 4 sets of 3, 5sets of 3 or 3sets of 4, 3sets of 5, 4sets of 5. I made a really wide one and when a balloon popped, you couldnt see any gap.

once you grasp how simple this is, youll be able to construct trees, arches, garlands, columns, snakes, dragons, in quite large sizes.
Maybe you can use it for scenery/props, i just think its beautiful and its very tactile, lovely to touch (good for the blind to feel)

I learned this weave from Ed Chee (Mr. Diamond Jam) at Twist and Shout in 2006. It is quite easy to do after a little practice and and very visually impressive. Thanks for mentioning it. Have you tried Rei Hosaki's X-weave? A very different style of weave from the Tak weave but also very useful.

Okay, lets try this. Start with 160's since they are smaller they are easier to get started with. Inflate 11-160s. If you have 11 different colors that is great if not then choose five colors and inflate two of each and one odd color.
1) Take the pairs and tie them together at the knots.
2) Connect the pairs to the single balloon one pair every 3 to 4 inches.
3) Make sure all your bubbles in the X-weave are uniform in size.
4) Starting with one balloon from the first pair and one balloon from the second pair make a 3 to 4 inch in each and twist together.
5) Take the second balloon from the second pair and one balloon from the third pair, make a 3 to 4 inch bubble in each and twist together.
6) Continue with the second balloon from the third pair and one balloon from the fourth pair.
7) Again, take the second balloon from the forth pair and one balloon from the fifth pair.
8) Here is where it gets interesting. Start with the remaining balloon from the first pair. Make two bubbles, matching the size of the other bubbles.
9) Take one bubble from the second pair, make one bubble and connect with the last bubble from the balloon in step 8. This will create a diamond shape.
10) Work you way across the sculpture repeating steps 4,5,6 and 7.
11) You will now have a row of diamond shapes.
12) Take the used balloon from the fifth pair and make one bubble.
13) Take the remaining balloon from the fifth pair and make two bubbles.
14) Twist the second buble to the single bubble.
15) This should complete the fits row of "Diamonds"
16) Repeat, repeat, repeat

If this doesn't make sense please let me know.

from the above picture you can see that i keep the colours in line.
This is particularly good for tree trunks and garlands.
ive used 160s here but ive also used 260s and 350s

Try a simpler version first Baloo. Take six balloons and tie a set of three together at the knots. Now tie the other three together as well. Gently lay the second set on top of the first set but DO NOT push the knots together. Grab the bottom balloons...

Tell you what, I just placed a file in the picture section under Balloon Art. It is a PDF file from the Qualatex website. It is not exactly a Tak Weave but it should give you a very good idea.

Here is the direct link to the Tip Sheet.

I've tried different ways of uploading and posting the sheet within the thread and not had any luck. It seems it is just too large.
