View Full Version : Clowning and time management?

I'm just learning how to be a clown and I'm also a grad student. First off, I go to classes, work at my clinical assignment, organizing a student club, researching for my thesis, reading a book a day, studying, AND trying to squeeze in 'Creative Clowning', 'Clown Act Omnibus', 'Strutter's Guide to Clown Makeup'! I have already made a friend who is a magician and talent scout who's trying to book jobs for me EVEN THOUGH I'M STILL LEARNING! Does time management get to be a problem in clowning?

PS: Yes, I am an insomniac. ;OD

Time management is a big issue, especially if you are trying to, excuse the pun, "juggle" several things at the same time like yourself.

For me this is not a full time job, just a great hobby that makes a little money, at this point, to help pay for itself. Why, just yesterday I was picking up the Aladdin DVD and I saw this great Airzooka that I just had to have, and....

Oops, did it again. Sorry :)

But seriously, yes, I wish I had more time.

And you know what? I'm not even an insomniac!

Yes time management is and always will be a problem for clowns or for that matter any active person. That reminds me, I think I have written an article about that subject. I'll take a look later and see if it is still on my hard drive somewhere.

Found the article and posted it. If/when it is approved you will be able to find it in the 'Latest News' section.

I know exactly what do you say about it... I think that the most of us it's so hard to management the time, specially because normally we have another job and don't work with it at full time...

In my case, I recently have to start clowning and hadn't the chance to do a paid work in clowning... (only as a volunteer or in some presentations with my friends) and I hope that some day, I can do it...

But, if we really like to do it... so... we need to do it...

It's a pleasure for (i think) all of us to clowning and see the people laughing or smiling a little bit... It's the better price for us...

Let's continue (hardly) to management our time and do the best thing tha we can... Made people more happy...

o boy time management what a play on words kinda like goverment intelagents. but seriousely its was hard for me cause clowns in the rodeos had to be there before all the riders so they could get ready for the show and be the last to leave cause the bull riding was always last. and then it was off to another one .could be just down the road or it could be in a whole other part of the country. so it was hard to manage time.

Don't you just wish day's were a little longer so you could do more and sleep more. :D
Same here, if it weren't for my calender I'd be lost.

Surely, Saphire...Certainly, all of us needed a little bit more time to do everything that we want...

Yes, time management is an issue. Since I work full time and am a deacon candidate at my church, working my clowning in can be difficult at times. However, I love it so much! I just can't imagine NOT doing it now. Of course, I do dream of the day that I make so much money from my clowning that I will be able to quit my "day job"!

Speaking of time management...do you know how much sleep the average adult needs on a daily basis?

Answer: Just 5 more minutes

Sorry about getting off the subject of time management. But I have just gotten one of those Airzooka's and have been racking my brain as to how to use it. In a walk around I thought of Free hair spray and hit em with the blast of air.... but something is missing. If you get any ideas or if I can think of something better I will share.......
