Hello everybody!

I wonder how many different reason exist for people to become a clown. Do you love acting silly, do you love being another character, is it the interaction with your audience, the sheer fun of it or something completely different? Come on and tell why you just LOVE clowning around and share it with fellow clowns.

Happy clowning.

What do I love about being a clown? Hmmmm., well after 25 years my clown persona is as much a part of me as my non-clown self. You might as well ask what do I like about being me, the non-clown. I might be able to answer that question better, cos I've been that for even longer.

Both my clown and my non-clown underwent a mighty change 21 years ago, when I prayed one simple and harmless-sounding prayer - something like this, "Jesus, if you are real, and what it says about you in the Bible is all really true then please make it all real inside of me - I don't want to get it second-hand through any human being. I want to get it from YOU".

Wow!!!!!!!!!! Was that answered or was it answered!!

Within about 7 days - certainly no more than 14, I had had a certainty birthed inside of me that it was ALL true. And that certainty has not shifted since.

I had been a fool without Christ (and you can't be a bigger fool than that). But very soon afterward this experience I became a fool for Christ.

Imagine my joy when I discovered that I was not alone. I saw that no less a personage as St.Paul had described himself as a "Fool for Christ".

Nowadays my clown is employed in using his clownish talents to show that the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

There is no joy like it.

I hope this goes some way to answering your question.

With love and best wishes,

Mr.Custard,

I am not sure if there is enough room to say it all, but here goes. In all of us there is a part that wants to be a hero, to help some one , to dry a tear, to make someone forget their troubles, if only for a little while. Not only is it great therapy for those around me but it is a release for myself. After being a police officer for 20 years, I saw the worst ( and the Best) of humanity in all situations. For me it is an escape to the place I really feel comfortable in. I get to minister to others as well as serve my Creator, bringing some fun to an ordinary world. I love clowning, and nothing brings a smile to a face as the carefree, and caring clown.I have spent 20 plus years with my bride in the clowning tradition, and hope to spend the rest of our lives together serving our God and bringing smiles . There are so many stories to share and clowns to meet, that it is a lifetime journey. We have made some very close and dear friends through clowning, ( and some that we have met on the net we have yet to meet face to face) or red nose to red nose. Life is to short to be afraid to commit yourself to something you really want to do. If you dream about it, GO AND DO IT!. Share a little of yourself, make someone's day, grab a smile and stand back for the laughs. If there is one word to sum up clowning, it is LOVE, and sometimes there needs to be a lot more spread around.May GOD Bless and KEEEEEEEEEEEEEP Clowning, tug and faith

I love the freedom to be vulnerable and allow the child within myself to express himself. I also love ballooning and seeing childrens faces light up as they recieve a balloon animal, hat or whatever it is that I have made for them.

I clown to share the Love Joy and peact that God has given me with anyone who is willing to listen.

I always thought it would be so fun to be a clown, but wondered, "How does one go about getting started?". A lady in our church announced one Sunday morning in February that she felt led by our Lord to start a clown ministry in our church like the one in her old church. Well!
That was my invitation!! I told her to sign me up for clown class! I felt led to my name (Mercy Me) from the start. Our graduation is this coming Sunday and I can hardly wait to use this group for the Lord. :-D

Great Question!!

I think I can answer it fairly simply. To spend a little time letting others be entertained and happy - to forget their troubles for a little while. Now THAT'S an enriching career no?? :-x
