View Full Version : [ask] Music for Performance
Hello brother and sister.
I'm newbie here...
I need some CD's for performance. Could anyone give me suggestions?
Maybe you can share one or two of your favourite cd's title here....
This is the only clown's cd i have:

One more thing...it's really hard to find clown's music in my country. Is there any website, where we can direct downloading the music and pay in credit card?
thanks
Scruffy 07-04-2007, 04:00 PM www.bubbasclownsupplies.com They have cd's of Circus calliope music. They would be great for a clown performance.
Good Luck,
Scruffy
Fitzwilly 07-04-2007, 05:30 PM I have had comments that because calliope music is usually somewhat offkey that after a few minutes it begins to annoy people. I know that I enjoy it for a couple of songs but it still wears on my nerves after 20 minutes or so. I have added a variety of up tempo marches and Big Band style music from the 1920's and 30's.
Scruffy 07-04-2007, 08:09 PM I agree Fitz.
It's like Chocolate Ice Cream. As much as I love the stuff, after about five minutes I've had all I want. I like to mix it up. Some oldies, some calliope, some big band, Some rag time piano, some brass band marches.... Even some of the Henry Mancini arrangements- the pink panther theme, peter gunn theme, yellow bird, Moonglow, Calcutta, Those poor people of Paris, 12th street rag, The Alley cat song, and My favorite; an Instrument arrangement of king of the Road done on pedal steel guitar. Instrumental music usually works the best.
There's an entire series of CDs with "circus music", including one specifically "for clowns" at this site:

But, really, I'd just encourage you to find songs which fit your clowning and character, wherever they might be from.
Grandpa Weatherbie 07-05-2007, 09:28 AM Hi there, ho there, hey there, Dee.
I am Jim. I like kalliope music too Dee. It's great performing music. I use it just like you do plus I keep it playing in my shop during the day to keep mosquito's and cockroaches away. Just kidding. I read the post's from other clown's in regards to your request and think they are absoloutely correct about too much of anything is not necessarily a good thing.
I try to keep a mix of ways to entertain my kid's and I think the most successful thing is love and just be yourself.
I am a "newbie too" and boy, what a wealth of information there is to learn from at the Clown-Forum. Nice people and great clowning techniques.
As Red Skelton use to say, "God-Bless"
Just Jim...
Thanks for all your suggestions.
I agree Fitz.

...wherever they might be from. Thanks a lot TIM
Mr Rhubarb 07-05-2007, 02:39 PM I used to use recorded music but it's a hassle and there are legal issues like royalties so now I just use a kazzoo

@Mr Rhubarb
What is "kazzoo"? A Musical Instrument?
Fitzwilly 07-05-2007, 10:55 PM It is a little metal or plastic tube with a hole in the top and when you hum as you blow into one end of the tube it amplifies your humming and adds a buzzing. Not the best description. Yes a musical instrument, usually for children.
Mr Rhubarb 07-06-2007, 12:42 PM You get a kazzoo from a music shop, a toy shop, or a joke shop and they cost about the same as half a pint of beer in most currencies
