I don't know about your area, but there are several websites, that carry clown supplies and magic supplies, [more toward clowning type magic], www.bubbasikes.com (http://www.bubbasikes.com) he's great and reliable and you can email him. Also I've ordered from www.clownantic.com (http://www.clownantic.com) and have never had a problem.

www.fabmagic.com and www.abbottmagic.com

These are local magic shops for me. I am lucky in that I live fifteen miles from the magic capital of the world. And No, That is NOT in Las Vegas. Abbott magic was started by Two very famous magicians. Percy Abbott and Harry Blackstone, Sr.
they can take care of anything that you need!

Scruffy, maybe we can meet up in August during Abbott's week. I usually make it up there Friday morning and stay until late afternoon.

Thanks for your replies!

I usually buy from european countries cause the shipping is more cheap.I haven't bought anything yet from usa stores and I think it's more complicated to send something in the Europe.

I 'll check your suggestions.
THANK YOU!

Willace, your basic bag runs about $19.95. With a zipper $24.95. I know there are many magic shops in Florida, or call me at Fun F/X next week at (574) 272-7890 shipping would probably be only about $5.00 but that is just a guess.

yes I get things from ebay at times, I'm just sure to check out the sellers feedback. I wouldn't deal with any one that didn't have a good one, and I use paypal as there is some protection built in with that.

I get many of my magic tricks from twin city magic in St. Paul....they ship very quickly and can get in many things. They carry the cutest chick pan that is the size of one hershey kiss. Little kids love blowing kissed to me and I catch them in the little pan...and viola! A hershey kiss to them....nice little pocket trick.

www.larocksmagic.com

Larock's offers free shipping if you buy $150 or more. That means more magic for your dollar, rather than paying the postal service. The people there are friendly, and have always been more than willing to talk on the phone to discuss props or items.

They also go out of their way to make sure your order is correct. I've had them call me when I'd placed an order and the item went on sale after it was placed, but before it shipped; to let me know I could get a few more items for essentially free (since I was shooting for the $150).

Great folks, Great service, and Fast shipping

I found this cool site. Prices are good, but have not tried them yet. They even have some video demos of how the tricks look when done.

If anyone knows of any issues with them, let me know before I order. Thanks.

I've heard good things about the Madhatter.

Firemoe - is there any chance of you making it to the Spring Fling this weekend? It isn't often you get to meet and learn from Pricilla Mooseburger and Fred Baisch without going to a larger convention. And besides being FREE we are going to have a great time all weekend!

Hope to see you.

I love to shop on Ebay. I usually search under (Clown magic) (Children's Magic) Another site that has a little it of everything is Balloons and Clowns (http://www.balloonsandclowns.com) I buy mouth coils and smaller things from his on a monthly basis. He even shipped somethings to me when i was deployed to Iraq.

Fitzwilly, Where is this convention that is going on this weekend?

Is it in Indiana?

Fitzwilly

It is in Indiana, South Bend to be exact. If I remember my drive to St. Louis it would be about an 6 to 8 hour drive for you Razz, depending on your traveling style. In the "Spring Fling" Thread, the first or second thread is the hotel's address and other information. We would love to see you.

Bugaboo - the door is always open for you as well. I even tried to convince them to repaint the golden dome in red and white..... They said no.

Magic is a performing art that entertains an audience by creating illusions of impossible or supernatural feats, using purely natural means. These feats are called magic tricks, effects or illusions. We all think that a magician can do everything but a magician said it totally wrong. The term "Magic" is etymologically derived from the Old Persian word Magi.

Thanks for the input Jackk50. Your post almost sounds like it qualifies as an opener for an entirely new thread.

i've heard that you want to purchase some magic. i know being a clown you might not want to, but i recomend going to a local magic shop. most of the magic shops in New York are going out of buissness because people are getting there tricks on-line. i actually feel bad for these guys because it's there job. how would you feel if nobody hired you as a clown? i saw a skit on this at a recent magic convention and it made me cry. there used to be so many magic shops before the internet. and, me personally, i know how hard it is to keep up a buissness and i find it a point to support local buissnesses. i deffinately would recomend going to a local magic shop. now it depends where you live, but i know a great guy who owns a magic shop on south Sanila (i don't think i spelled it right) street in liverpool, New York.i go to this guy for all my magic, so you know he's good. this guy has moved from place to place because he wasn't getting enough buissness. so please, if your going to get magic tricks, go to a local shop.

I understand the whole local magic shops, but I go into them and they are either rude, and just want to sell you something, or they don't pay attention to you. I am from Las Vegas, where there are many magic shops and I still prefer to buy online.

You've just been to the wrong magic shops then. Bobby and crew at Larock's are great - Granted they are mostly online these days, but they didn't start that way.

There are many good magic shops - for how long, who knows; but more and more online shops are popping up.

Larocks.com
Penguinmagic.com is ok if you avoid the forums
kjmagic.com

several others as well... ellusionist has a good variety, but they're pricey...

Hanklee is ok in my limited experience with them... Recommendations are all over the forum here - goodluck fidning a supplier you like!

Same here - I spend as much in gas getting to the closest magic shop than I intended to spend on props, so online is the only real option.

I try to pick up some stuff at the Winter Carnival, but most of those guys are from online vendors as well...

While I like Penguin's stuff, DVD-wise and for those who work there, I am not as impressed with their selection of props and effects, in fact, I got one of the worst set of cups for a cup and ball routine. They made them look shiny silver on the ads and video, but for me they were a dull color. And, that was not the only thing that I got that I was really unimpressed with.

Personally, I am more inclined to use themagicwarehouse and elmwoodmagic. In my opinion, they have a better selection and what they sell are quality effects and what you see is indeed what you get. I limit myself to Penguin's videos, but when I want an effect I go elsewhere.

Ellusionist is good, but they are overpriced in comparison to other dealers. Again, I like the stuff they put out themselves, DVD and otherwise, and really like their selection of playing cards, but for other stuff, other dealers are cheaper and even give discounts.

Just my .02
