My friend and I did our first birthday party this past weekend. We did this one as a freebie so we can get our feet wet and advertise. It went really well. My friend was so nervous though she forgot how to make her balloon animals. (I think her hands were shaking so much she had a problem even tying them.) The kids had a great time and we realized we did some things really good and some things needed work. My friend might just stick to juggling and face painting and I'll stick to balloons and games. The next hurdle will be our first paid party. I can't wait! :)

Well done. Keep going you can only get better. First performances are the worst because you don't know what to expect. This has a magnifying effect which distracts you from your performance. At the end of the day if the kids enjoyed it then you were successful :D
The first time is the worst one but as you do more you will learn what works and what don,t Just don,t give up if you have a bad one We all have them and you learn from them
Have fun and it shows and the people will have fun too

Great Job Tinytiff! Work hard at putting together a good show. Also. make sure you can get a letter of reccomendation or a refrence from the people. Parents are cautious of who they let have contact with their kids, The refrences will help open the doors.
Keep up the good work!

Congrats to you. You have gotten past that first outing and it sounds like it was fun for you and the children.
Bump a nose. (I think that is right)

Congratulations TinyTiff...
Surely, the first birthday are the worst, because we never expect what could happen with us... I did ( a some time ago) a christmas party (as a clown) and was so hard to me, too...
But I intende to do some birthday parties to grow up..

My first birthday party was rough. It turned out good, but there were twice as many kids as I had been told would be there and they varied in age from 2 or 3 to 11 or 12! Hard crowd to work. Plus, I had a balloon pump that you pump with your foot. The kids kept stomping on my foot and saying let me do it!! The balloon animals turned out well. I love that part. I also brought ice cream, waffle cones and a variety of sprinkles to decorate my ice cream "clowns". The kids loved that and picked out their own sprinkles, so they were invloved in it.
The grandmother that hired me was very pleased and the kids had fun, so it was a success. It also taught me a lot.
