Hey there!

First I want to say "HI!" to all of you at clown-forum, I'm new to the site & I'm really looking forward to chatting with you!

I have a question related to 'the business of clowning'...

I have actually been a clown since I was old enough to walk (I was born into a family of clowns - there is no way out - and I'm glad!) I am finally taking that step into clowning full time for profit.

My question is: What insurance do you use?
I am familiar with the packages offered through COAI and WCA, but I've read through what they cover, and I must say, I'm a little nervous that I wouldn't be fully protected by their plans. Do any of you use a 'regular' business insurance angency? If so, what kind of coverage did you request?

Thanks so much for your input!

The group insurance you mentioned should cover whatever you are doing performance wise unless you are putting you audiences in any real danger. That insurance is pretty much the standard across the industry.

I don't feel I have enough business yet to have insurance, but I've heard the best bet is to get it through the clowning associations.

I use the group insurance through the World Clown Assoc. I looked at other insurers, the ones for my home and auto, but the other carriers were much more expensive. It seems the rates vary, depending on your location. If you are in the big city, the rates are higher. If you are in a more rural setting, the rates tend to be less. You have to be aware of limits on the coverage, and performance limits, also. It will be difficult to find low priced insurance if you are juggling flaming batons. Whatever insurance you choose is up to you, but you must absolutly have some! Don't leave home without it!...Willy Nilly

Good advice, Willy. Love that picture, by the way! Your hair is my favorite color.
