Do any of you guys know a company anywhere in the world that build clown cars and those funny little bikes that clowns ride with the wonky wheels bits fall off etc (NEW not second hand)
The closest thing i've found is unicycles.com but its not really what i'm looking for.
Any help would be welcome as i'm running out of places to look.

There is a company called Rhodes that makes them My understanding it the wonky wheels trick is accomplished by using two different lengths of spoke. Do a search of Rhodes Bicycles.

And Welcome to our board!

I am considering making one out of an old riding lawnmower. There pricy, but a golf cart will make a dandy one. And in parades, they are easy to control the speed, and they are quiet. Used, though. a few hundred bucks.

the problem that i see with the colf cart is that the engine sits under the seat so its hard bring the seats down lower and costomize it another option if you have the money is to buy one of the fancy go carts and have a shell of a body built around it out of sheet metal.

Fiberglass is better because it is lighter and easier to work with. If you make the body out of several panels. you can have different colour schemes and replace them when they are damaged. That is why you should always keep your molds.

Over time you could also experiment with different body shape to fit the same fixing points. Another advantage of panels is that they can be constructed in such a way as to enable the falling apart gag.

great idea gilbert i didnt think of that right off and i use to build fiberglass bath tubs.duh. fiberglass is not that hard to do by your self but make sure you take all the needed safty precautions, its very itchy and messy and when you are sanding it make sure you wear a dust mask.

Dave, I was watching king of the hill, and of all the places I saw a gag that would be great for a cowboy clown. A "horse" ,made out of a innertube, held up with suspenders think giant pool float, bobby was a rodeo clown and was trying to herd a chicken.
Lou Jacobs had a motorized bath tub, A great gag that I don't think it has been seen in a while. I was thinking about an old flat bottom fishing boat, converted to resemble a tug boat or a little side paddle steamer, could be great for parades. Especially the clown water skiing off the back of it. Attact two old waterskis to a flat boardwith a couple of skateboard truck. Anyone with some boarding experience coul tell you how to controll it during a parade.
I saw the clown car I want. It's a golf cart with what looks like a '48 Chevy body on it. If I could get one and make it lookli ke a jalopy, it would be perfect.

hey thats pretty good idea.and as for the tube i can get a bathtub from where i use to work theya re fiberglass but i could put a frame around it and hide a motor in side it.boy now you got me thinkin
and as for the car that sounds awsome scruffy i hope to draw up some plans for mine in the next few days and take it to my friend so we can figure out what it will cost. im gonna build mine like the legend cars you see at the racetracks but use gilberts idea of usin fiberglass. and i think i can do this all at minimum price. some of my contacts have some good leads on gettin stuff cheap or at no cost just ppl that want to get rid of things. thats one good thing about livin in a small town lots of redneck yards with things all over the place

well know that im thinkin about it do any of you if i can get it worked out want plans for this car i will try to make it so you could ajust the design to fit what you want or if mine turns out maybe i could design different types costumized persay. like a panel truck or old style roadster. anyway it just popped into my mind so i thought i would throw it out. i like to design stuff so it would be a fun thing for me

Hi guys thanks for the leads i have looked at Rhodes Bicycles before but they dont do anything special, i'm still in search of finding a manufacturer some where on this planet, if anyone know's anybody else please let me know. Its looking more like i will have to design it and get a company to build it, if that is the case i will let you guys know what the outcome is.

I'm thinking that electric would be better than petrol. what do you think?
Also what kind of price would you put on a good clown car? (so that i dont get ripped off)

A custom golf cart runs about 3-5,000. I would imagine a custom clown car would rate right up there.
I had an idea. anyone know where the shrine clubs get their little cars? I'd check there. I also remember seeing adds in the back of old Calliope issues for these little model T type cars . They run on a small lawn mower type engine.

Scragg, You may have to do a search on the freemasons, or masonic Lodge. The Shriners are their highest level. Many Shrine groups have groups in parades that ride around in little cars or on little scooters; doing manuvers.

I think there is a guy who builds funny bikes in the New Forest Hampshire UK (Lindhurst I think?). Unfortunately I have not got any more details except I think he also runs a bike shop there. Sorry the info is not better but I am going from distant memory.
