View Full Version : This is rediculous
Dylan 09-06-2007, 05:33 PM So many questions, must be a "busy" day at work.
Do you use gimmicks or straight sleight of hand more?
Do you use coins, cards or other more?
Do you use a magic wand?
Do you think I am pretty?
What is the best single trick you do, Clown or otherwise?
saphireSue 09-06-2007, 09:41 PM I like self for easy working magic the best, some slight of hand, few coin tricks, I do have 2 card tricks I can do, as far as magic wand well not for each trick but I have several wands that are part of a trick, one of mine is only about 2 inches long if that long.
"Do you think I am pretty?" ......" Pretty Silly"

Do you use gimmicks or straight sleight of hand more?
Mostly stupidity, followed by a mix of gimmicks and sleights.
Do you use coins, cards or other more?
When clowning It is "other" rope tricks, thumb tip, other silk effects. Rarely cards and never coins in a show setting for children. I want something larger and more colorful, both for the sake of the kids and the parents.
Do you use a magic wand?
I probably have about 10 different comedy magic wands. The audience seems to get a kick out of my reaching for a wand and never knowing what is going to happen.
Do you think I am pretty?
Oh look at that butterfly...
What is the best single trick you do, Clown or otherwise?
As a clown, right now it is my new patter for Professor's Nightmare.

I get those days too....
Do you use gimmicks or straight sleight of hand more?
Slights. I have only one gimmick (magic wilting flower) and I have yet to build a routine for it.
Do you use coins, cards or other more?
Cards mostly because I am not that good with slight of hand. Mostly what I do when clowning is just do hand tricks and make them as absurd as possible.
Do you use a magic wand?
Nope.
Do you think I am pretty?
yeah... pretty silly.
What is the best single trick you do, Clown or otherwise?
The best straight magic trick I do is one called "out of this world" where I have people sort a shuffled deack of cards into red and black collums without looking at them. It is a mind blower, but not all that great for clowning. I think my best clown one is my hands as card trick.
Dylan 09-07-2007, 08:58 AM I learned that "out of this world" trick it is a really good one

I use sleight of hand
Cards, I find that kids are able to identify the shapes and it allows me to use numbers and counting in the show.
I never have used a wand, maybe someday
I think I am pretty
Two card monte. It is awesome.
Lolly Plop 09-07-2007, 12:46 PM I am a total klutz so I only use 100% fool proof gimmick tricks. I have a couple of magic wands. I don't use coins or cards since most of these are sleight of hand. I would say you are more lovly than pretty. I don't have a best magic trick. I am in the process of shopping for more idiot proof magic tricks so hopefully I'l have a best soon.

Vegetus 11-01-2007, 09:15 AM My magic varies depending on the audience. For older audiences, I tend to use coins/expanded shell stuff more than I do for kids. I don't do a "lot" of card magic, but intend on adding some routines to my magic over the upcoming winter when things slow down for me.
I do more sponge magic than anything currently. The sponges are colorful, so they attract attention. Most of the magic is simple, requiring only a sleight or thumb tip at most.
Most other performers I've met don't like sponge magic, they tend to feel it's childish or "kid's magic" only. That's a silly thought, sponge routines can be mind bending if done well, plus many of the tricks can be done in the hands of the spectators - that's strong magic.
Huckleberry2 11-20-2007, 02:05 AM I totally agree with you on the sponges Jolly !! I usually will get the darn the sponge ball stuff look at first from some adults but by the time I get to 15 small balls transformed from 2 large balls the looks have changed to jaw dropped amazement. And sponge routines are very economical on ebay etc. Overall I use more sleight than gimmick cause I love to do instant magic and I always carry magic with me. I use a lot of everday items and common borrowed from the crowd items. I think using a borrowed item in the trick gives it more impact on the whole. I sometimes use item I happen to have like a balloon as a wand but now very often . . . .I guess I think your pretty silly myself and the best trick I do without a doubt is making the kinda money I do without a real job!!!! Sorry I couldn't resist. . .My best trick changes often but it's usually a close-up impromptu I have a whole fishing routine I do that takes about 4 minutes and invoves a number of tricks. People absolutely love it. Without revealing to much of the magic (cause I'll probably market it someday). I use a bucket which is gaffed to work like a lotta bowl and keep pouring the water out of it. I also catch and fight a fish in the routine is very comical and the magic is impressive. Unfortunately almost all of it is gimmick stuff so I can't have the audience examine the props.

Do you use gimmicks or straight sleight of hand more?
Both, depending on the setting. For stage, I use alot of gimmicks. When strolling, I use alot of sleight of hand.
Do you use coins, cards or other more?
Sponges! Alot of people think sponge magic is "just for kids." Alot of Sponge Magic can be done in the hands of the audience - that makes for strong magic. I use some cards, coincs, and rope; also some miscellaneous gimmicks.
Do you use a magic wand?
Not currently, but thinking about incorporating one into my stage routine.
Do you think I am pretty?
aww - of course.
What is the best single trick you do, Clown or otherwise?
I use to be big into velocity stilts; and could do some nifty things on them - jumping over cars and stuff. Audiences like big plumes of fire as well. I don't guess I have a signature trick at the moment - my audiences dictate my grand finales sometimes
8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
Cubby T. Clown & Cuddles 04-07-2008, 08:31 PM Our best trick is "Banana-Bandana", It always gets the kid's jaws dropping. Most of our magic is the self working/easy type. If we can't learn it in 10-15 minutes we don't bother. The one exception to that is "Kate and Edith" (only for adult shows, if course.) It took me quite a while to learn the patter and to remember the flips with the cards. Well worth the time for the laughs we get, though.
