Since a few of us have already been to a Mooseburger experience and many more are looking to become better clowns I thought I would post this update. ESPECIALLY the SCHOLARSHIP part!

Hey, Fitzwilly ... I will probably only be able to go to one clown camp this summer ... do you think the Mooseburger or the one in Wisconsin with Richard Snowberg is better? If I can, do you think it would be beneficial to go to both?

Also, what is the best way to get to Mooseburger camp ... drive or fly, and what airport is the closest one, do you know?

I must admit I am very partial to MooseCamp. That is where Fitzwilly really came into being after years of struggling. Also the friendships I made there are responsible not only for where my clowning is today both in professionalism and business but it also accounts for my heavy involvement in the Midwest Clown Association and Clowns of America International.

Now, to be fair, I have not gone to Clown Camp. I do intend to in the next couple of years as a "look see." The two camps are structured very differently from what I have been told.

I believe the closest airport is the one in Saint Cloud. Jamz or Tim would be the ones to answer that. I rode the buses one year to welcome everyone but I have no idea were we went. I drive when I go. It takes me between 9 and 11 hours with an occasional stop to smell the roses. I like to drive and check out the scenery, plus as staff I am always hauling "stuff" from here to there.

I thought I heard that this might be the last year for the one in Wisconsin ... is that false info?

There was a question about that awhile back but it seems that Richard decided that the 30th anniversity in 2010 would be an ideal time to retire.

Now, to be fair, I have not gone to Clown Camp. I do intend to in the next couple of years as a "look see." The two camps are structured very differently from what I have been told.

While I'm also partial to Moosecamp (as that is where I got my signifigant influence of early training and the staff have earned my respect for their ability to teach clowning at a core level of both art and skill), I also know a lot of people who have attended Clown Camp. They always rave about it. Either/both camps, then, have something unique and very wothwhile to offer, I think, as Fitzwilly has alluded.

The real question to ask, in my opinion, is what is best suited for you, individually, at a particular point in your clowning career. Each of us is in a different place and time. So, one must ask, "How will attending this particular camp/conference help me grow and get from where I am to somewhere I'd like to be?" In determining that, get as much information as you can about various offerings, talk to those who have attended, ask lots of questions, assess your interests and desires, then see what fits best.

I believe the closest airport is the one in Saint Cloud. Jamz or Tim would be the ones to answer that. I rode the buses one year to welcome everyone but I have no idea were we went.

Minneapolis/St.Paul is the primary airport in that area. Moosecamp send a bus to/from the terminal on the first and last day of camp for the benefit of those flying in. There is an additional fee (of about $50, I believe) for this transportation. If you go that way, it is a LOT of fun, as it starts camp off in a nifty way, where you get to meet many people at the airport, have fun making friends and playing games on the bus, and starting off the whole learning experience early in that communal environment which unites.

You can take the bus or train to the Twin Cities, also and catch the bus from there. There is a city transit bus which takes you directly to the area where the Moosecamp schoolbus awaits. I highly recommend the train trip. Wonderful ride through the Wisconsin bluffs and along the Mississippi River. Spend the night in St. Paul, perhaps, where I understand that there is a bar with clown decor.

I drive when I go. It takes me between 9 and 11 hours with an occasional stop to smell the roses.

There's no need to kill the roses. Go to gas station, for heaven's sake!

I like to drive and check out the scenery, plus as staff I am always hauling "stuff" from here to there.

Driving does provide the opportunity to make side trips, like to Circus World in Baraboo or the Clown Hall of Fame outside Milwaukee.

Unlink the other posts, I'm on the opposite end of the stick. I've attended Dr. Snowberg's "Clown Camp" in LaCrosse, WI. I've found the program to be very inspiring but then I haven't yet attended Mooseburger's weeklong camp.

Clown Camp has $250 scholarships available at their website. Last year we moved to new dorms....actually called SUITES. WOW, we were staying in class! each suite is a regular apartment with 4 single bedrooms, a livingroom and full kitchen. All air-conditioned which was a tremendous PLUS compared to the old dorms.

And yes, clown camp will be winding down the next couple of years. Rumor has it the contract is up with the university on their 30 year anniversary...not to mention the fact that Dr. Snowberg is now retired.

You can fly right into LaCrosse. No car needed once you're on campus.

Registration is all-inclusive which includes registration, all meals and lodging. Give it a try!

Thank you for that post ... I actually have my scholarship form all filled out and ready to go, but I want to wait until after Christmas to send it in, because I guess $150 has to be sent with it, right? Money's tight right now at my house so I will have to wait, but I do want to go.

I love the way you put your makeup on, by the way ... it's VERY CUTE!!

My friend and I planning on attending the moosecamp this summer too!

Of course, it is very difficult to get there for practical reasons.

We live in Greece and we have to get a visa in order to visit USA.I hope to get all the papers and the staff needed and make this little dream come true.

God help us. ( and clown buddies too ! ) <:O)

For anyone in my neck of the woods, the Clown Guild of Metropolitan Chicago is offering a $400 scholarship to Clown Camp for one of its fortunate members. But, hurry, hurry, as applications for the scholarship are due early February.

This is fantastic!!! Have you contacted Pricilla or anyone at Mooseburger about your coming? I know each year there is at least one camper from out of the country so she may have some ideas that would help the paperwork along. I really look forward to seeing you at camp.

Even though we are interested in camps for this summer ( make your suggestions :) :) :) ) we are also thinking of attending in a clown school ( or college or whatever exists ).Any links of reliable, really good, schools - camps would be helpful!

Thanks.

Fitzwilly :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: , Thank you my friend!!!

I sent an email to Mooseburger yesterday asking for more information but still no reply.I REALLY want to go to the camp.So does my friend too!

BUT...

I have to travel 11 hours by plane and I don't know anyone in USA.I don't even know where is the nearest airport to the camp and if I have to land in Buffalo or Mineapolis or...

Also I have to get a visa and that requires some time and extra money.

Although,I admit that my interest in clowning will overcome all these practical problems.

I really appreciate your help my friends.

( If I come I 'll invite you in Greece to enjoy the sun! <:O) :) :)

After I saw your first message I called Mooseburgers, Pricilla had left for the day to pick up her daughter and Katie, who handles much of the paperwork, was with another customer. I will try and call again tomorrow. We will get you a few answers. I will be at camp, Jamz said he is coming back this year and it seems like a couple of others are sitting on the fence right now. I am looking up the nearest airport right now. It is the Minneapolis airport.

Nettie.. I want to go to LaCrosse - matter fact I was over by LaCrosse over New Years - when I visited Terry. He is at Ft McCoy - Took only 6.5 hours drive from my house.. so if we drove together it would be a great adventure.

Minn / St paul is the air port and the best thing to do is come in a day early and stay at the Best Western Hotel and the bus will pick you up for camp there it also gives you time to meet some other clowns before camp and go see some of the sites like the Mall of America Kleanis if you can bring some stuffed grape leaves I will be your friend forever and ever LOL
looking forward to meetuing you at camp
I forgot to mention there is a free shuttle form the airport to the Best Western just go to ground tranportation and call the hotel on the phone there and there is also a special rate for the hotel room
