I've gotten a renewed fascination of balloon hats recently. One of my favorite hats (or designs period) is the giraffe hat

I also have a couple different horse hat designs I like (I have a change or two on each of the ones posted here) First is by Ralph Dewey, the other I'm not sure of - someone emailed it to me - if anyone knows the designer - please let me know

What I'm lacking is a really good elephant hat! Which I really really would like to have. I've got one that looks good, but takes forever to make - it's based off of Thelma's elephant weave (pictured below)

I have another one that is quick, but doesn't look that great :(
Basically just a giant version of the one or two balloon elephant on a bigger stage. I may play around with the horse head helm design and try to make it into an elephant - even then, it'll be a time consuming one.

So! Here's my request... anyone have a decent balloon elephant design (preferably one that can be altered into a hat)?

If anyone wants directions for the above balloons, feel free to message me and I'll send them to you. The giraffe and horse with the braided mane are really easy twists - only about as difficult as a classic teddy bear or so. The Elephant and Horse Helm are a bit more difficult

That giraffe hat and horsey hat are both Patricia Bunnell's designs... She is an amazing talent.... Here are some of the DVDs she's made of her instructions... Product List (http://www.myfriendandiproductions.com/index_files/Page380.htm)

Yep - Patricia Bunnell has some great hats (balloons in general really). I've had her CD's for some time and highly recommend them to anyone interested in learning to make fantastic balloon hats.

Ballooning just takes time. The willingness to look around and collect designs you like, and the repetition of practice. You'll be surprised how quick you can pick them up after a few bags (ok, maybe more than a few) of balloons...

Hey Jolly,

Here's a video of my niece's b'day last month.. I did animal hats on that day.. really delighted to see the kids were enjoying themselves. Those animal hats were based on Patricia Bunnell's DVD...Happy viewing...:D

I love that giraffe hat! I was playing tonight and I think I figured it out... What do you think? :applause: I feel like it is missing the pinch twist behind the head to help angle it down a little bit - and also maybe the muzzle part of the head is a little too long - but for my first try I am pleased with it!

Also, I just started twisting - with a bunny in mind and this was the hat I came up with... I have seen lots of different bunnies - but I have not seen any instruction on any of them - I just started going and this one turned out better than I pictured it in my head!

Please, everyone share your input!

Many thanks!

Flutterby, the bunny!! Too Cute!

Hey Jolly, I think I saw a pretty neat elephant hat in the video Princess posted.

Princess, very nice! I love to take my balloons to my cousin's house.
The twins (5 yrs old)  LOVE   them!
They've seen me do so much that they are beginning to get the hang of twisting too!
