Just wondering where you would consider is the strangest place you have all clowned?
I heard of some people clowning at funerals, and while I neither agree nor disagree, I think this is the strangest place.

Any other ideas?

Wow, clowning at funerals????????????????????? While my first two gigs were not normal gigs, they were not nearly as odd as funerals!

I was hired by the Hooters Restaurant Co. to Clown for their KY Derby Festival Party tent. I offered to do it as a strolling Magician but they preferred a Clown. Well, I showed up in Clown only to find there were no children present. So I made the best of it. I strolled around performing tableside magic tricks and made balloon flowers for all the ladies.

Now, I'm not complaining :D as it was GREAT being the only Clown in a tent surrounded by Hooters girls but it did seem kinda strange being a Clown where there were no children present.

Strangest mmmmm. We do Care camp which is a grief camp for children, through hospice and there is a memorial service as part of it. It's hard to explain, but we do the normal clowning, skits, magic to loosen them up and have fun, then assist the activities. Then the group are lead by peer leaders if possible and that's when we leave.

I don't know If you consider Adult Day Care different, but those people love clowns, even the ones that are memtally challenged, OH and the best party ever was with the Christmas party for people with Disablities and special needs. They really like to get into the act.

I had already clowned at a wering fair... But this fair is a little bit strange 'cause it wasn't a normal wearing fair, but a wearing fair for people who likes rock, punk, gothic music... It's so strange and with heavy enviroment...

But, it was so good to us...

I did a 1st birthday party a few years ago for a child who had died shortly after birth - so the child wasn't actually at the party... the guests were mostly family and family friends. The child's mother said it was all part of her "healing process."

But on top of hiring a clown (me) to do games, face painting, magic tricks and balloon animals, they also had a fairy floss machine, jumping castle, jukebox, petting zoo, port-a-loo and pony rides. It was MASSIVE!

Despite my initial surprise and confusion, the party actually turned out to be one of the most successful and enjoyable (for everyone present) that I had ever performed at up to that date.

I also perform sometimes at a childrens' hospital in my area. Working at the hospital is both hard and wonderful at the same time, for different reasons - it can be hard emotionally because you often see kids who suffer from the most horrible conditions and illnesses - and many of the kids in the hospital are there for a very long time - I was doing balloon animals down there for a big Christmas day last week, and one boy said "I got one of these last year too..." On the other hand, it's wonderful because the kids in the hospital appreciate everything you do so much more than any other children I've ever met.

Hey there Gusto! Welcome aboard.. Great Picture for the Avatar!

Wow, I have trouble imagining doing a party like that one, but if anyone asks me I'm not sure if I could do it.

Not to bring everyone down, but the subject of a lost young child is very personal to me. I lost my second child Matthew at seven months during a spontaneous delivery in 1995. There's not a holiday that goes by that I don't wonder what would have happened if he had lived. Just this past Sunday I was thinking of him while we hung holiday decorations on the Christmas tree. Thankfully I have two wonderful daughters that keep me focused, happy, and blessed.

I would like to think that if anyone came to me for such an event that I would "happy" to help. I'm not sure though. It might bring back too much personal pain....

I think that his passing may be one of the reasons that I enjoy doing this "work".

Sorry for depressing you guys....just my ten dollars worth today...

I was recently booked to entertain kids at a local movie theatre. They wanted magic and walk around stuff to entertain the kids for an hour prior to the start of the movie showing. It was a private showing and they didn’t know how many kids were coming. In the end there were about 300 kids. The theatre was a giant stadium style. It was so much fun performing in front of all those people.
