Hey everyone I have a question for ya's that I hope you can help me out with. :)

At work, especially on the weekends I get to wait on a lot of Customers who have kids in strollers, in the carts etc... I love kids and always try to get a smile out of them... so here's the question.....

What things can I do, that would be short and quick to entertain these kids?.. I thought of tying a balloon animal but that would take too much time, and I think the company would frown on me holding up the lines LOL! Do you all know any quick magic tricks or little gags I can do.. I was thinking about carrying my nose in my pocket and popping it on for a quick laugh...

I find the parents arent entertained with me LOL But I can usually get a smile out of a kid... Today I had to resort to crossing my eyes and sticking my tongue out at one kid to get a smile, and there was a toddler in a Steelers coat in a stroller and i kept bending down to him and saying GOOOOOOOO steelers, he was quite amused, and let out a huge laugh each time ...but his Mom thought I was a bit touched LOL

Well any help will be graciously appreciated!

One simple trick is to stretch a broken piece of rubber band between you finger, hold it up at an angle. You can place a small object, like a ring on it and slowly let the rubberband slip through you thumb and fingers, keeping you hands the same distance. this will appear to make the object got up hill by itself.

As far as Adults with children in stores goes, people are generally warry of strangers, and usually in hurry to get what they need when they have kids with them.

Get a Palm Squeeker.
You can easily hide it in your palm and make anything squeek: your nose, a hammer, their nose, anything you touch. Keep a couple in you pockets. A fast Balloon that is impressive is an apple,Tinks. With practice you can tie one in about 30 seconds flat. And they can easily be blown by mouth. It is a specialty balloon that you buy. Qualatex makes a little pump that looks like an bulb syringe. It's small and very reliable.
Another inexpensive way is stickers. They always brighten a kids smile.

Hehehe....we clowns are all touched by the clown fairy! :)

Most people don't appreciate humor in it's simplest form, I'm finding out. Children still have that innocent humor about them, and besides, it's them you want to laugh or smile anyways...

All the ideas are good ones, and the squeaker usually gets a cracked face or a happy giggle from most of the kids...

Hey Sapphire Sue!
When you do the rubberband trick, which end of the rubberband do you let slip? Upper or lower? I'm so visual. I need to see this trick done. It sounds really neato!

the one in your lower hand, I'm right handed so I hold the end in my left and elevate it, then stretch the band about 4-5 inches and hold lower with my right with the extra band hidden in the palm of my hand, the slowly let slip through your thumb and finger, you have to make sure you keep you hands the same distance apart or they think your stretching it to move it. I also way comment when doing the trick that they should watch, that my hands are not moveing apart.

One thing I wanted to mention again, here and for parades is to get the small circle stickers in the stationary department. call them clown noses and let kids pick out the ones they want. I know when you see them you think this isn't going to work, what kid would want this, that is what I thought, but kids go crazy for thiese things, they love to pick out their color. One pack last for a long time as there are about 500 per pk.

Just be careful who you give balloons to - they are quite the
choking hazard if they break in a small child's mouth (or anyone's for that matter!)

I hesitate to give a balloon to anyone younger than 4 or 5, unless mom or
dad is there. I always remind mom and dad not to let them put it into their mouth.

I'm sure everyone knows this, but I felt compelled to state it here.

Sue that's a great idea! I'm always looking for things other than balloons and this sounds like a great one.

Hmmm, So the Candypult I'm working on might not be a good Idea.... Anyone need and industial grade air-ram?

J/K it's best to pass it out. Saves a brawl for it.
