I recently purchased Creative Clowning and am ready to start working on my look... I am having a problem choosing the correct make up. I am going to be an Auguste.

Someone please lead me to a decent website that will furnish explanations of the different types or just tell me what kind I should look for.

Thank you Kindly,

Wendi Sillytoes

I apologize.. I am looking for the different types of make up and places to purchase.. I looked around at my local "Party" shop and they had some Halloween makeup that I purchased (a vampire kit - not too much white), just in case I do not have what I need before my first event.. APRIL 5th!!

I found a couple of websites which sell clown makeup, but am tentative to purchase over the web when I really don't know what I am looking for.. HELP..

God Bless,

Try Mehron.com They have a good line of makeup and will show you how to apply it. You can also go to the library and take out a book on Makeup. One good book is Stutters complete guide to clown makeup.

I am in Australia but have ordered my makeup from ProKnows.com in the USA since I also get the clown nose from them.

They are quite good and don't rip you off on shipping costs.

You need white grease paint and powder to set the makeup.

You can try out their sampler kit which has got everything you need and includes instructions. If you do a full face of white then you will probably use up the white in about 10 to 15 uses as I did.

You might want to add the Mehron pencil and sharpener since it is a bit difficult to outline with the brush (supplied with the Sampler kit) though not impossible. You might be better at it than I was.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth.

I started with Melron, but later switched to Ben nye, to me it's not as heavy on the skin, sets better and easier to come off. Creme for white and Auguste, and their pencils for other stuff. Hint you can put pencils in the freezer for 1hr before using, then sharpen to a fine point.

Mehron has a clown palette which contains all of the colors needed for clowning: August Flesh, Blue, Red, Black and White. All in one convenient package!-Binky

I find that ben-nye works very well. And you can just use baby powder(no cornstarch) to set your makeup.

What is ben-nye ? Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question.
I have used Baby powder, but I sweat quite a bit and find that it does not last as long as a set.

Ben nye is a type of make-up. Sorry I didn't say so. here is the Ben-Nye website, and a place that sells their make-up.

Ben Nye setting powder is the best!

It works much better that baby powder and you will use less. It is well worth the investment.
