HI All,
Well, guess what?? I want to be a clown!!! I bet no one has ever heard that line on this forum before. Ha,Ha, I'm so original!
Ok, down to business, I have done tons of research, and I have my make-up, and my costume. But, I don't have a wig. Since I'm just startin' out, I don't want to sink tons of money in a wig, but I don't want a cheap Wal-Mart Halloween wig. I would like to find a nice wig for around $40 or less. I hope someone can help me out with this. I have found the wig I like at Clown Antics. Has anyone ever ordered anything from them? Thanks in advance for any info.
I love coming to this forum and reading all your entries. Very helpful, I have learned bunches.

Clown Antics. I ordered some makeup from them
and they seemed fine. Good reliable place. Quick shipment too.

Hi ya, The best and cheapest place to puchase a wig is at a thrift shop. I know cuz I work at one. Now we put most of them out at Haloween time but if a customer is in dire need we seek one out for them. Most wigs range from $2.99 to $7.99 In our store and I would surmise that in other thrift shops it would be about the same price. ONE WORD OF CAUTION..... MAKE SURE YOU WASH IT THOUGHOULY as you would any used item. And HAPPY CLOWNING!

I'm new to clowning also. I've ordered three wigs (three of our family members joined a clown ministry). Priscilla Mooseburger has adorable wigs very reasonablyp riced. Also, The Clown Shop has reasonably priced wigs. Don't go with Extreme Halloween. My wig ended up a nappy, matted mess. Very disappointing (costly) order.

I bought my wig from Bubba's Clown Supplies and was very happy with it.
I placed an order with Clown Antics and half of it was smashed. I know it wasn't due to the postman because the box was in excellent condition. It appeared that the packer was trying to make my order fit into the box rather than find a larger one. When I contacted them, they were insistant that their people did not mess up but the postman was at fault. They did replace the broken stuff but I was not impressed with how they handled the situation.

Hey - why not try making one!
I purchased a semi expensive one when startingout and then changed my charcter - not a cheap thing to do. So, my newer incarnation started out cheaper witha home made wig. I took an old mophead and dyed it blue, cut it apart and attached it to material (in a bandana shape) with velcro to hold it together.
Well.... 8 years later I still make that same wig as it's become a trademark. No other clown in the area has the same hair! I cover the top with a signature hat and voila - "Patches" :-D

Those in my troupe have gotten wigs from Bubba and Also From Freckles they're both on line and have been really happy. But check out costume stores, There's one in Myrtle Beach I go in, when I'm down that way and she keeps a few clown supplies in and we found the perfect green wig for my youngest clown and the perfect hat. It's alway easier when you can see it in person. If you get a chance vendors often carry supplies to workshops and that's a great time to get wigs, they'll often put them on sale

Don't be so sure that it wasn't the shipper! A box can look find but if it was badly treated the stuff in it still be damaged. I ordered some styrofoam heads once (not from CA) and the box was fine, but the heads were flattened - it was totally because of "smushing" in shiping.
I say this because I have been ordering with Clown Antics for years now - they are a family business and really care about their customers. They are super dependable and fast, and they've always been happy to work with me. Unless you called up all angry - it's really hard to be nice to mean people (all clowns know this, though). :-D :-D :-D
