We ( my family)all use Jollywalkers, but Spears Specialty Shoes are also a great shoe. Both places are quality and comfortable to wear. It will take 4-6 weeks to get your shoes since they are custom fit to you. Both have websites with directions on measuring your feet and ankles for a good fit. Remember that when you send a tracing of your feet, to also lay a ruler beside the tracing as a guage . This is really important if you fax your sizes to the manufacturer- some fax machines shrink the tracing or documents, so the fit needs to be correct or scaled. Good luck in your search, also I would suggest the vibram soles as well as the regular lace up. The fast velcro or zippers are not as durable and secure. May God Bless and keeeeeeeeeeeep clownin ,tug

I wear a pair of size twelve wresting shoes. They are lime green and since I wear a size seven most of the time they look rather funny on me.I wish I could afford clown shoes but for now these will do.

Another thought is to buy some oversize tennis shoes. Most sports stores sell the last years model at a great discount. We bought some size 20 and 22 basketball shoes for $20. per pair( originally 180.00) they can be dyed or painted to match your outfit, or just dressed up with fancy laces. You can actually wear your normal shoes, or even water shoes inside them . It is a cheap alternative to spending big bucks, and they look great. Good luck and keeeeeeeeeeeep clownin, tug

I watch Thrift Stores for shoes. A few years ago I found a pair of never- worn Converse, they were 4 sizes too big for me, and best of all lime green, matched my hair! The other day I found a pair of Nikes, size 17!!! I'll be painting them and dressing them up with jewels ect. They cost me 3 whole dollars! Yea! Some day I plan to get a pair of "real clown shoes" but until then the oversized are working fine!

HI,

I am just adding my 2 cents worth. When I first started clowning I wore a pair of green a yellow high top sneakers because I couldn't afford clown shoes. I got sooo many compliments on them. When I made a new outfit for Tootie, the sneakers did not go anymore and I decided to go for it and get "real" clown shoes. I get complimented on these shoes too, but I miss my green and yellow high tops. I gave them to a friend who was looking for shoes for her new clown character and they matched her outfit perfectly, so I know they are being put to good use.
I know you didn't mention not being able to afford clown shoes, andyou just asked where to buy good quality shoes, but another reply mentioned not being able to afford them and a First of May might be reading this and think. Oh my goodness I need to buy clown shoes.
My point is , wear what you feel comfy with and don't worry if you can't afford to buy "real" clown shoes. The shoes don't make the clown.

My other clown character wears sneakers and she has very happy feetl.

I wear a pair of Spears shoes and I love them. I met him personally at the clown derby in Kentucky a couple of years ago right after he finished making all the "elf shoes" for the "Grinch" movie. Remember to keep smilin'

I was starting to get nervous! I was wondering if any one was going to mention clownsoport shoes. I am in the middle of haveing some created for me. I haven't ever tried on a pair of pro clown shoes so would not no the difference. I am seeeing the Spear name a little more often then clownsoport in just the past few days. I believe because they had my measurements on hand from a past convention it made it easier for me to decide to have clownsoport do them for me. Have you tried any of the other brands? If so what would you say the difference would be? Pixi

I have Concorse old-timey high-top basketball shoes, ordered online from www.zappos.com for only $37.95, no shipping, no tax! For a first pair, they are perfect--very comfortable, I ordered a 1/2 size larger than I normally wear so have plenty of room in there and the laces at ankles keep them from slipping around. They have a wonderful selection of bright colors and even some really cool printed pairs. They aren't clown shoes but they have "the look".
Blessings,

Hi Ray!

I don't know if there are second hand clothing stores in Norway, but if there are check them out. My daughters and I found our clown shoes at thriftstores for just a few
dollars.

I wear normal sized, yellow canvas sneakers. I'm enough of a clutz without adding extra length to my clumsy feet! :-D

The clown shoes mentioned above do look neato! Good luck in your search.

Pixi - i haven't tried any other professional shoes but the Clownsoport ones are great! I really can't say anything bad about them at all.

There are a few clowns in our alley that have them and the same reaction from them as well. Spears is a well known name and great too - just not the only ones out there. I know a clown who has had spears shoes for many years - is very happy with them and loves mine as well....

no worries - you'll love what you get!! :-D

I bought mine from www.caboots.com and love 'em! If you keep an eye on the clearance rack on their site, you can get imperfect ones cheaper! I figure once I wear them one time they are gonna have some imperfections so why not by the pre-scuffed models and save money?!-Binky

I just ordered mine from them today. I couldn't find any that I liked. I wanted them to look worn and scuffed. Not these things with fake toes sticking out of them. Spears had some nice ones, just more than I could afford for part time clowning. So I ordered the black ones. The shape of the shoe was what I wanted. Getting the look I want just means I need to do more jobs.
BTW, Binky. Are they leather or am I going to be disappointed?

I recieved my caboots clown shoes today, and am very pleased. They are the style I wanted for my Character. They are all leather but have a crepe sole instead of a hard leather one. I asked about resoling them and they said yes they do it for $20.00 which is reasonable. I changed the laces when I got them; they were cheap so I put good boot laces in them. For the price- Go for it. The quality is good. You can stuff the toes for a tighter fit, and they look great. I finally fell like a real clown.

Yes. The laces aren't very good. There was a pair of used Pschodelic disco shoes size 9D in the clearance last time I looked for $10! You could be a dancin' fool! :-)

Howdy,

I just made myself a pair of big bare feet for my clown (see my avatar pic). I think they look funnier than shoes, and they sure are comfy! They're all foam rubber inside. I love them so much that I'll never wear clown shoes, I want my clown to always go barefoot!

Fannybelle!

P.S. I'm new here, howdy to all y'all. I posted a couple of pictures to the photo gallery, hopfully they'll appear soon. I'm also a new clown, and I make my own costumes.
